Who Will Serve Who?

I hear people asking questions like, “How can he (the President) talk about going on a 17 day holiday to Hawaii when this country is in so much trouble? “ and “Why is he always playing golf?,” and so on. It seems as though the presidency of the United States is one big party for him, and if he has to govern a little bit to justify his position, and he can’t get away with just voting “present,” oh, well, he’ll just have to do as little as necessary in between vacations and basketball games.

To understand the mindset of President Obama and others like him, one must understand a fundamental difference between the liberal and the conservative mind.

Conservatives, generally subscribe to the world view that there is a God who reveals himself in the Scriptures as "Lord," and we are His “servants.” He is the absolute; we are the variables. His agenda is set; we must conform our lives to His agenda and standards. The center and ultimate authority for most Conservatives is God.

The center and ultimate authority in the lives of most liberals is “self.” Even those who profess faith in God are easily unveiled by their godless deeds, such as the support for abortion and homosexuality, and their every-day speech which never includes references to God except in a scripted political exercise. President Obama demonstrates by his actions that he is a de facto Secular Humanist. His actions demonstrate a faith in no authority higher than humanity. This naturally leads one to believe that one who has risen to the office of the “leader of the free world” is now due the homage of a grateful people. He is now the center of his universe and pays deference to no one, except, of course, when he must feign humility to maintain his position.

This liberal world view is a universal human condition when God is not in the picture. It is easily seen in every area of public and private life: in the teachers who see the students as necessary for their success, in politicians who choose a constituency that serves their ambition, such as when Hillary Clinton chose to live in New York because she believed New Yorkers would elect her as their Senator. In effect, instead of the politician serving the people, the people are serving the politician. Remember the liberal is the center of his, or her, own universe. This is even seen in liberal religious leaders who see their congregations as stepping stones to career advancement. They are more devoted to their success than they are to a congregation, and so they leave one congregation to pastor another larger congregation advancing their career. They aren’t serving the parishioners as much as the parishioners are serving them!

This natural human condition fits right in with the contemporary humanistic religion based in the false theory of evolution: “Survival of the fittest,” or “Look out for number one.”

The Conservative is not the center of His own universe--God is. And happiness is not found in self-actualization, but rather in pleasing God by serving others. This is demonstrated by the teacher who will work in a private school at half the salary of her public school union member counterparts, because she cares for the children more than she does about herself. This is demonstrated by the politician who puts his constituency above himself even when it means to refrain from running for office. This is demonstrated by the pastor who is devoted to his flock, and will not abandon them for a “larger” church, or a personal promotion.

Conservatism sees government as an agent to support the poor, while modern liberalism practices helping the poor to support the government. That’s why only 33 cents of every dollar that is collected for social welfare programs eventually makes it to the end user. The other 67 cents is absorbed in government. So in effect, we don’t have the government to support the poor; we have the poor to support of the government!

Is it any wonder then, why our founding fathers, in many of the original state charters stipulated that a requirement to hold public office was a belief in God, and in the system of eternal rewards and punishments?

They understood that unless a man (or a woman) truly believed that there was a god watching his every move, he would eventually give in to his natural sinful nature and put personal interests above the interests of the people he’s supposed to be serving. In other words, instead of serving the people, the people would end up serving him—that’s tyranny.

So then, this is what the 2012 election is all about. It isn’t about individuals, or even political parties. It’s about which world view will govern the nation. Will it be progressive liberalism that sees people more as “subjects” to be managed and controlled to meet the needs and desires of the select few in power, or will it be the time-tested ideal that has ruled, since our founding, a conservative view that acknowledges there is only One who is better than the rest of us, and His throne is in the heavenlies. It is now our duty to reflect His love; the love demonstrated on Calvary’s Hill where God sacrificed for the needs of his people.

If the liberal worldview wins, we will be set on the same path as other godless governments, controlled by self-serving, corrupt politicians who believe they are entitled to the benefits of their office because, after all, they are of the highest of the human order—a narcissistic mindset shared with the ruthless tyrants of history.

If the conservative worldview wins out it will only buy us a little more time, hopefully one more generation, to teach our children about the principles that have made America great. And hopefully, they will carry the torch of liberty to following generations.

So then, we know why Obama can “do his own thing,” without serious concern for the rest of us. He believes he is entitled. After all, he is The President. The people exist to serve him. His well being is always first. If they are complaining that he’s taking a 17 day vacation, they need to get over it. After all, he’s the President. The arrogance and ignorance of our founding values demonstrated by his administration, and others who subscribe to his world view, represent the seeds of corruption and ultimately, tyranny.

That’s why every believer and every responsible citizen must be registered to vote in this next election and must vote on Election Day. It’s not about the individual candidates or even the political parties. It’s about two ways of life: liberty or tyranny.

It’s up to us to bring this nation back to those Godly principles upon which we were founded and upon which we have thrived, particularly that principle that states that the president and the government is the servant of the people; the people are not the servants of the president and the government.

LESSONS OF ZUCCOTTI PARK

What can we learn from the protestors at Zuccotti Park, on Wall St.? We can learn where the left would take us if we follow their lead. We can learn that there is no comparison between this godless demonstration against authority—any authority— and the Tea Party Movement which is a protest against ungodly tyranny. The Zuccotti Park protestors are a classic example of the “mob mentality” Anne Coulter so prophetically describes in her book, “Demonic.”

We learn that Wall Street protesters demonstrate the spirit of the French Revolution, while the Tea Party movement demonstrates the spirit of the American Revolution. The former rooted in self-gratification with no respect for self or others, while the latter is rooted in Christian love seeking the greater good for all with respect for our institutions and our system of ordered liberty.

The only thing both movements have in common is that they are both expressions of “We , the people,” though representative of two ends of the political spectrum, the left and the right.
So does the Bible say anything about this? Glad you asked.

A CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE OF THE WALL STREET PROTESTS

Yes, there is corruption in corporate America. We agree on that point. However the corruption on Wall Street isn’t due to the wealth of the 1%. But rather it is due to the universal corruption, self-centeredness and greed of the 100%. The Wall Street protesters are demanding that what the wealthy have should be given to them, and what drives them is nothing less than their own self-centeredness and greed, or in Biblical language, “covetousness.” That is, “I want what you have.”

Another valid point of the present demonstrations is bringing attention to the unholy alliance of government and business –crony capitalism. On that point, we also agree. To have a business community of self-centered human beings joined by a government community of self-centered human beings can only produce a powerful force of self-centered human beings –tyranny.

However the solution is not compulsory redistribution of wealth dictated by self-centered, greedy human beings using the force of government to take from others what they want for themselves. (Remember the French Revolution?) The answer is not legislation; it is leadership –moral leadership.

Government imposed re-distribution of wealth has never worked. As Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis told us, the choice is between the unequal sharing of blessings and the equal sharing of miseries. All one has to do is look to the former Soviet Union, the present condition of Cuba, or the unfolding situation in Europe to see where that economic philosophy takes us.

The answer is not in neo-communism, anarchy or in the rejection of our founding principles, but rather in the re-affirmation of those principles that undergird a virtuous society –capitalism framed by a Christian ethic.

We need moral leadership that will be able to effectively communicate the fact that we are one nation, under God, blessed with peace and prosperity as no other nation has ever known. And as such, we have a responsibility to help the less fortunate among us, not through the force of law, but by free and willing hearts, by corporations and wealthy people -the 1%- giving to charitable organizations, and their respective communities of faith to feed the hungry, and care for the poor.

However, for this to happen, there must be a genuine spiritual revival that will produce a new breed of selfless Americans who will be willing to sacrifice for others because they know the One who sacrificed for them. That’s the history of our nation. It’s the answer to our current dilemma. During the Second Great Awakening of the mid 19^th century, Charles Finney’s Benevolent Empire, a coalition of institutions dedicated to caring for the material needs of the poor, had a budget that nearly equaled the size of the federal government’s budget.

The answer isn’t one group of corrupt individuals demanding the goods of another group of corrupt individuals. The answer is in the love that a virtuous people have for one another when they come to know the One who is love.

Without Christ, we’re just managing the darkness. We must turn on the light! The Church must lead the way!

OF IGNORANCE AND ARROGANCE

Ignorance and arrogance, a dangerous combination. Unfortunately, this is what was demonstrated by President Obama’s recent big speech on the economy. He reminds me of the boy who found a hole in his blue jeans and was afraid his Mommy would yell at him so he grabbed the scissors to cut the hole out, so it wouldn’t be there when Mommy came home.

Unfortunately for our nation, this current administration is so deluded with Keynesian economic fantasy that no dosage of reality will apparently shake them from their mission to control, as they see it, an ignorant populace until they can usher in their egalitarian Utopia, “peace on earth” and a “chicken in every pot.”

They truly believe that it is an established fact that government is the answer. If one stimulus didn’t work, then obviously it must have been too small. Let’s go for more stimulus. Sure, cut the hole out of the jeans and see what you end up with. What is it that is said about the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result? If it’s not insanity, then we’re left with ignorance. There are no other choices.

Then you have the arrogance that is reflected in the tenor of the President’s speech as though he were scolding the Congress and the American people. Today he made another speech to Congress, showing up 30 minutes late, as usual, demonstrating his lack of respect, and his lack of accountability to those whom he is supposed to serve. It’s that arrogance that makes him unteachable. When he is fired by the American people in 2012 he will no doubt conclude that the American people were just not ready for him; we aren’t smart enough to appreciate his wisdom. Any student of world history will be familiar with that particular personality type as being characteristic of your average narcissistic tyrant dictator. Thank God for the separation of powers in our system that helps to protect us from such personalities, but only so long as we remain vigilant.

The demonstrated ignorance and arrogance -not to speak of the incompetence- of this current administration sends a clear message to reasonable thinking Americans: We must choose leaders who are educated in the ways of American traditions and values, and who are running for office, not because they are motivated by political ambition, but because they sense a divine calling to help lead America toward peace and prosperity for the benefit of the next generation.

Our experiment with a post modern humanist celebrity president has failed. It’s time to choose men and women who fear God and who understand the time-tested values that have made America the envy of the world because we were “One Nation Under God.” We must be so again, or succumb to ignorance and arrogance. The recent election in New York’s 9^th Congressional District where a Democratic majority voted overwhelmingly for a conservative Republican encourages me in the knowledge that Americans, even in New York, are neither ignorant nor arrogant, but rather intelligent and humbly grateful for God’s grace shed on us.

Same-sex Marriage is Regressive

I’m tired of hearing same-sex marriage proponents pontificate about how “progressive” and “socially evolving” their actions were in legalizing same-sex marriage when their actions were, in fact, the exact opposite.

It’s clear that proponents of this “pseudo marriage” are either totally uneducated (or mis-educated), or at best, they are very short-sighted in their view of world history.

Marriage was, in fact, a progressive step upward toward civilization when it was introduced by Jewish Law to a pagan and hedonistic world. The introduction of marriage was one of the civilizing institutions that brought order, peace and prosperity by defining the family, providing protection for women and a sense of responsibility for children.

Redefining marriage to make it what it used to be is not progressive, but regressive; it’s not social evolution but social devolution.

Let truth be told, even if it bursts the good feelings of those who don’t know history. There’s nothing progressive about same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage is a step backward to the days of pre-civilization. Remember Sodom?

Legalization of "Pseudo" Marriage.

Tonight the Republican State Senate legalized same-sex, “Pseudo” Marriage, further degrading social order and decency for the citizens of New York.

As an institute dedicated to the preservation of marriage and families for the well being our children and ensuing generations, we will double our efforts to right this wrong that has been imposed upon our citizens.

For the first time we find ourselves on the wrong side of the law, but when that law violates the higher moral law derived from the One who is the very source of our inalienable rights, then we must pledge our allegiance to that higher moral law, regardless of the personal cost.
Adoption of this Pseudo-Marriage is nothing less than rebellion toward God, who will not be mocked.

Despite protections for religious organizations this law will embolden the radical homosexual community to push Christians into the very closet homosexuals came out of.

This is certainly not the settlement of an issue, but rather the beginning of a new movement that will not rest until we are once again, “One Nation Under God,” and our laws once again reflect God’s order for his creation.

AN OPEN LETTER TO NEW YORK STATE REPUBLICAN SENATORS

Dear New York State Senators

A major cultural event hangs in the balance to be determined by your vote. If same-sex marriage becomes law in New York it will spark a new cultural battle in the war for decency and morality in the state in the same way that the Roe V. Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court did not settle the issue of abortion, but rather gave birth to a movement that will not rest until babies are, once again, protected in the womb.

James Wilson, the first Supreme Court Justice and father of our American Jurisprudence system taught us that civil law must always be consistent with divine law. In other words, the Bible--and in particular the New Testament-- is the standard against which all law must be measured.

The Old and the New Testament affirms that homosexual acts are always immoral. We dare not rely on human reason alone. It is that reasoning that has called six million Jews “schmattes,” which means “rags” thus dehumanizing them so they could be killed in the name of human progress. It is the same reasoning that calls unborn babies “products of conception,” thus dehumanizing them so they could be killed in the name of “a woman’s right to choose.”

Now, once again, the language is being manipulated to advance an ungodly agenda. Who would object to “Marriage Equality”? Why don’t they call it for what it is: “same-sex marriage”?

Civil rights laws regarding racial equality were accepted into our society because Americans understood the Biblical truth that we are all created equal, and that recognition of this truth is a step toward a “more perfect union,” but accepting an aberration of the definition of marriage leads us further from godly order, and in fact, back to a time before Jewish law introduced the concept of marriage. Proponents of same-sex marriage claim this to be a step in societal evolution. Their knowledge of human history is at best, short sighted, and at worst, ignorant of facts. Marriage was a step up in societal evolution. Same-sex marriage is a step backward. Remember Sodom?

I appeal to your sense of humility, and your desire to rule “in the fear of the Lord.” As the Father of our country, George Washington assured us:

“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.”

If same-sex marriage becomes law it will launch a fight for righteousness in this state and nation that will not rest until we are once again, “One Nation Under God,” and the Bible is once again acknowledged as the objective standard against which all our laws are measured.

I beseech you: defend authentic marriage for the sake of the next generation.

Lessons From Weinergate

Congressman Anthony Weiner’s actions, as perverted and stupid as they were, were not an anomaly when it comes to the human condition, but rather a clear example of why we must insist on representatives whose passions and lusts are bridled by an inner moral compass inspired by a belief in God, and in the system of eternal rewards and punishment, as stated in almost all of our states’ founding documents. Our founders understood that men are driven by carnal passions with power to delude them into destructive and irrational behavior. Submission to God and his rules of order trains men to walk in integrity, until this new way of living displaces the natural carnal instincts inherent in the human condition. This moral character is what qualifies one to lead others into goodness, peace and prosperity.

This is precisely why we must never separate God from government or face having a government of liars and perverts. Remember Sodom?

Osama is Dead, But...

We celebrate today, the demise of Osama Bin Laden, and we thank God for the courageous men and women of our armed forces who brought us this victory. However, as I said several years ago, this is just one more battle in a fifty-year war against an ideology bent on the destruction of the West. Islamofacists are warring against liberty. They will never stop until they win, or they die trying.

The typical conventions of war do not apply to a people whose identity is caught up in the destruction of Israel and the West. This is their reason for living, and for dying. They sincerely believe that killing, and even dying for “Allah” is a good and noble thing. This mindset places them beyond the limits of reasonable discourse. Any talk of peace or cease-fire is nothing more than a strategic move on their part to rebuild and regain strength for the war that must be fought to the finish.

We must understand that this is like no other war we have ever fought. This is a war of ideologies. It will never be won until the next generation of future Jihadists is won over by the ideas of freedom and democracy. We are looking at no less than a fifty-year war to change the minds and hearts of millions of people. I question whether or not it can be done, but we must try, or succumb to tyranny. In times past, presidents have spoken clearly when explaining why we fight, that we were defending our liberty and our religion. Yes, the religion of Christianity in all its various expressions. They understood that liberty and Christianity are inseparable.

We will never win this war with bullets alone. We must win the hearts of the next generation while we neutralize their fathers who would rather die warring against the West than talk peace with “The Great Satan.” If they choose to die, then we must help them do so before they kill us. Then we must teach the principles of democracy, and the blessings of liberty to their children, if there is to be any chance of real peace for coming generations.

There must be no talk of “proportionate response.” This is not a game where “You take my pawn; I’ll take yours. “ No. This is war. The only acceptable proportionate response is the total neutralization of terrorist forces around the globe. Until then -and I am convinced it will be for no less than fifty years- we must continue to fight and support our allies, particularly Israel, relentlessly. The next generation of free people depends on no less.

How The World Sees Us

"Let me be clear: I'm not normally in favor of boycotts, and I love the American people. I holiday in their country regularly, and hate the tedious snobby sneers against the United States . But the American people chose to elect an idiot who seems hell bent on insulting their allies, and something must be done to stop Obama's reckless foreign policy, before he does the dirty on his allies on every issue."

The above is a direct quote from The London Daily Telegraph Editor On Foreign Relations. The present administration is destroying our image abroad. In their attempts to befriend our enemies and disown our friends the only thing they have gained is the disrespect of the entire world.

Our friends can no longer count on us and our enemies laugh at us. Consider Libya for example. We should have gone in there, taken out Quadaffi, and helped the “Freedom Fighters” set up a new parliamentary government. Never mind that other Arab countries may not like our strong involvement. We’re not here to win popularity contests. We don’t need them to like us; we need them to respect us. We’re here to help freedom ring wherever Congress, the voice of the people, and the Lord lead us.

Has the Torch Been Snuffed Out?

Has the torch of liberty been snuffed out? Is the” last best hope of the earth,” as President Lincoln called us, a thing of the past?

Today, we no longer have the resources to help our friends, and fellow human beings in Japan suffering the effects of nature’s wrath, because we are a nation that is broke, and drowning in our own tsunami of debt.

In the Middle East brave men and women are giving their lives to pursue the liberty we take for granted, and our current administration responds to their desperate cries with meaningless “contemplation” of options. This “dithering” sends the message to those whose hearts are beating with a passion for liberty that they can no longer count on the U.S. to help them realize their God-given right to freedom.

Within our own borders we see gay rights movements and labor union thuggery exchanging civility and decency for perverseness and chaos.

Are America’s best days behind us? Will we pass on to the next generation a nation that is less prosperous, less peaceful and less civil than the one that was passed down to us?

The answer lies with the Christian clergy of the nation, those who know that
“A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory.” (Matthew 12:20)

It will take, yet one more revival, beginning with men and women of God desperately crying out in repentance from our own self-centered ways to see God once again, shed His grace on our nation as He has for so many years.
The clergy must repent of their dissensions and factions (Galatians 5:20) and come together in the Name of Jesus to see this nation turn around from its current path to oblivion.

Those who call themselves “Christian” must rise up to do their duty to their community and nation as part of their duty to God. God will bless or curse this nation and the next generation according to the actions of believers. If we rise up to the occasion the “smoldering wick” will once again be ablaze with glory and we will continue to be that beacon of liberty for a world in need, and God will get the glory!

WHAT HAPPENS IN WISCONSIN

It’s important for all Americans to understand what is unfolding in the State of Wisconsin, and in the Midwest, because what happens in Wisconsin will certainly not stay in Wisconsin. It will impact every state in the Union, and so we must all be informed and equipped to do all we can to insure that the ultimate impact is a positive one that will help advance the cause of peace and freedom in the nation.

Over the past decades there has been a most unholy alliance between the major labor unions and the Democratic Party, and now that a Democrat is in the White House that alliance is between the major labor unions and the federal government. President of the AFL-CIO says without hesitancy that he visits the White House 2-3 times a week, and talks to someone from the White House every day. At the very least that indicates major influence on federal government policy, and it may even suggest a level of union control of government. Unions and government partnerships have historically proven to be a formula for disaster. Ask anyone in the former Soviet Union. In this country this unholy alliance has resulted in government workers receiving salaries and benefits far better than the private sector, while providing increasingly mediocre and inefficient services. When there is a labor conflict in the private sector the company involved would have to change its ways or go out of business. In the government sector, the employer just raises taxes. There is no competition. The taxpayer is compelled to pay by force of law.

That’s why there cannot be collective bargaining between labor and government. This was generally understood even among the labor unions until the late 1950s when union membership began to dwindle and they began looking for ways to grow their army. And they did. Now the pendulum must swing back to a common sense center. Government workers must not be allowed to bargain with their employer because their employer is the citizenry, not a corporate mogul, or wealthy shareholders who can make choices about profitability.

If the current trend toward more government union continues we will find ourselves where government workers are the protected and preferred class –by law- while everyone else is struggling just to make ends meet. This will resemble the failed Soviet Union more than a free America. It must be changed now in Wisconsin, because what happens in Wisconsin surely will not stay in Wisconsin.

An Impeachable Offense

The Obama administration has announced today that it will no longer defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which bans the recognition of same-sex "marriage." This indicates either a total ignorance of the limits of executive authority, and the responsibility of the Department of Justice, or blatant arrogance and disregard for our system of law. This is not a dictatorship where the executive can choose which laws he will enforce and which he will ignore. If he believes a law is unconstitutional we have a judicial process to make that determination. The President and the Attorney General do not have the unilateral authority to declare what laws –and by extension, what part of the Constitution-they will enforce. he President took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. This is a clear attempt to shred it, and in my view, it is an impeachable offense.

MULTICULTURALISM HAS FAILED

England’s Prime Minister recently told the world community what common sense Americans have been saying all along: multiculturalism doesn’t work.

In fact, one reason why the United States of America has been exceptional among nations is because we followed a policy that was anathema to multiculturalism; it’s called “unity,” or as we codified it, “One Nation under God”. As long as immigrants came here to adopt a new “American” national identity, we advanced in peace and prosperity as no other nation has ever known. Unity has always been our strength, not diversity. Diversity contributes to weakness, not strength. Try putting an army on the field with men and women of different languages and cultures and see how victorious you will be. From the times of the Tower of Babel, unity has always indicated strength, and diversity, weakness.

We’ve had our experiment with diversity, and it has failed. Minority groups have not prospered because they did not assimilate. English is the language of success. It is to our shame that we have failed to teach immigrants English, and as a result we have locked them away in ethnic enclaves, a permanent underclass that will not advance, because they will not be competitive unable to speak English.

If we’re going to preserve peace and prosperity for our posterity we must discard the promotion of multiculturalism and go back to teaching American values. In fact, it’s time to go back to what Teddy Roosevelt told us in 1907:

“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people. “

It worked then; it will work now. Let’s do it.

Agenda For The New Congress

As the new Congress takes its place attempting to redeem the liberty, peace and prosperity we have known in years past, it must begin with a reaffirmation of the first principle of American government: “In God We Trust.”

It is that principle that must provide the framework for all legislation and public policy, if we are to preserve for our posterity the nation our forbears passed on to us.

In 1953 President Eisenhower told us:

“Without God there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first –the most basic- expression of Americanism”

Then this leads us to the second principle: Civic law must be consistent with divine law as we understand divine law revealed in the Holy Scriptures.

On October 6, 1935, FDR stated:

"We cannot read the history of our rise and development as a nation, without reckoning with the place the Bible has occupied in shaping the advances of the Republic...Where we have been the truest and most consistent in obeying its precepts, we have attained the greatest measure of contentment and prosperity."

We may disagree about the intent and meaning of Scripture, and this debate is worthy of Congressional attention, but we must never neglect the principles contained in Scripture or we risk losing the freest and most prosperous nation the world has ever known. As stated on the walls of the Missouri Senate Chamber, “Nothing is politically correct what is morally wrong” and understanding that in these United States morality is defined by the principles of the Bible, particularly the New Testament, we must reestablish a course toward peace and prosperity according to a trajectory set by the principles of our Constitution, which in itself emerges from the principles of Scripture.

We need bold and courageous men and women to help re-establish the foundation upon which this nation was built: God and the Bible.

On "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

George Washington would be rolling in his grave at the news of the attempt by this administration and Congress to normalize homosexual behavior in the armed forces.

General Washington literally drummed men out of the army who practiced homosexuality. He knew that the strength of the military was more a function of their unseen moral character than it was of their visible military might. Our founders understood that morality was defined by the Bible, and our laws and public policy must be consistent with Biblical principles. The Bible sets the boundaries for ordered liberty. It is the objective standard that has provided peace, prosperity and stability for over 400 years. The repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is an attempt to call “moral” what God has called an abomination. Homosexuality, as well as any sexual practice outside of holy matrimony is immoral, and as stated on the walls of the Missouri Senate chamber: “Nothing is politically right that is morally wrong.”

We must call on the new Congress convening in January to re-establish once again the primacy of our Judeo-Christian standard of law and morality, and reaffirm the standards clearly set forth in the Uniform Code of Military Justice which strictly forbids homosexuality and adultery.

To do anything less would mean losing the favor of God and emasculating our military.

WHAT THE MID-TERM ELECTIONS TELL US.

The results of the mid-term elections just completed tell us that the system still works, but now begins a new season for people of faith to work the system.

James A. Garfield, 20th President, reminded us that
"The people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities."

Now we must begin the work of demanding that only intelligent, brave and pure Americans sit in the seats of government. We must rededicate ourselves to the proposition that the liberty we enjoy is a sacred stewardship for which we will be held accountable by God and our posterity. We must therefore be active participants in the institutions of American government from local school boards to state and national offices.

We begin with the premise that we are “One Nation Under God,” and we look for leaders who are themselves, “under God” to give us reason to hope that they will lead in ways that are consistent with that Judeo-Christian ethic that has produced the greatest nation the world has ever known.

This is not a time to be quiet about our faith. It is not a time to buy into the lie that “Two things you don’t talk about are politics and religion.” After all, what is more important than politics, which addresses the condition of our civic happiness, and religion which addresses our eternal well being? No, let’s be sure that if we only get a chance to talk about two things it will be politics and religion.

The work of turning around a nation that was steadily declining into a Socialistic state begins now. We will have another opportunity in 2012 to elect more Constitutionally-minded citizens to public office. In the meantime we must work to recapture those foundational principles and re-educate the citizenry so that liberty will be safeguarded. Remembering Thomas Jefferson’s admonishment, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” To which let me add “active participation.”

WHY PRESIDENT OBAMA IS GOOD FOR AMERICA

Before you accuse me of jumping to the dark side, hear me out. Since the 1920s the federal government has been slowly but surely increasing in size, as it slowly but surely took more control over the lives of Americans. State and local governments followed in kind, passing more legislation that regulated and controlled the lives of citizens. Today, you can’t build a a shed on your own private property without “permission” from those in power.

There is a valid question that suggests there may no longer be a thing called “private property” in America. Don’t pay your “rent” in the form of real estate taxes and see if the real owner doesn’t show up to boot you off his land. Was it ever yours then?

The Federal government has gone from about 5% of GDP in 1900 to over 25% in 2010. That’s a fivefold increase in the reach of government into the private lives of citizens. There is a regulatory agency now for almost anything and everything. This totalitarian movement has been slowly creeping into the lives of Americans with relatively no objection or pushback. It happened slowly, incrementally, and the average citizen just sat back and let it happen.

With the election and the actions of the Obama administration all that changed. The sleeping giant –the free citizen– woke up. Americans went back to the Constitution to see if what the government was doing was legal, and they found a government that went far beyond it’s constitutional authority. We said “No More!”

In November we begin to reverse the course of this nation, once again, toward liberty. A slow drift to the left for more than two generations is about to be reversed as Americans –we the people– once again work to correct the course of the greatest nation in the world. Thank you President Obama, for waking us up to this important reality. We may not have done it without you!

PURGE 2010!

Two events occurred today that provide a window into the hearts and minds of those who are presently in power:

First, the President’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel was reported to be preparing to leave the White House to enter the Mayoral race in Chicago, a reportedly long-time personal ambition of his.

Secondly, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, chose to adjourn Congress in order for members to go home early to campaign for re-election in November, instead of remaining in Washington to vote on extending the Bush tax cuts beyond 2010.

These two reports reveal character traits of people who clearly act out of personal ambition over the good of the country. Unfortunately, this character trait has become too common place, and I have found that it speaks even to the definition of a modern liberal.

This next election must not be a contest between Democrats and Republicans, but rather it will be a contest between liberals and conservatives, between those who put personal ambition above the good of the country, and those who are motivated by a higher calling.

Let there be a purge in November. Let those who would rule others motivated by personal ambition and power lust, be replaced by others who will serve their nation because of a sense of calling and an awareness of their accountability to God. Let’s call it “Purge 2010!”

What the Recent Primaries Reveal

The recent Primary election results illustrate clearly that the mantle is being passed from one generation to another younger, purer generation of leaders still committed to principles of liberty and statesmanship.

Thank God that American liberty is perpetuated, not by the shed blood of revolutionaries, but by the shed egos of corrupted self-serving politicians.

The fact that people like Charlie Christ and Lisa Murkowski choose to run as independents instead of supporting their party’s nominees, reveals the nature of their true character-self-serving ambition. They are intoxicated with power and would rather punish the nation with the election of a Democrat than support a Republican who isn’t them. Their actions simply validate the wisdom of those who went to the polls on Primary Day.

It is clearly a time for a changing of the guard, for retiring the white-haired monuments -of either party-who see themselves as the untouchable ruling class. It’s time for a purge! It’s time to get back to principles of ordered liberty under God as outlined in our Constitution.

We have a unique history of winning against the odds –evidence of God’s favor. Let’s not lose it. Let’s continue to pray that American Christians will turn to God in repentance and prayer, repent from our own self-centered ways, and trust God for a revival that will turn hearts toward Him, and make us once again One Nation Under God. Let’s do it for the next generation.

Of Koran Burning and Mosque Building

I pray that the congregation of Dove Outreach Center in Gainesville Florida will reconsider their decision to publicly burn copies of the Koran, but I will fight for their legal right to do so.

After all, there is a moral equivalency between this situation and the building of a mosque at Ground Zero. They both have the Constitutional right to do what they plan, but they are both unwise decisions, because they both illustrate intolerance and a lack of consideration for those they oppose. As Christians, the golden rule applies: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Neither the World Trade Center Mosque or the Gainesville Koran burning reflect that basic Biblical sentiment. They should both cancel their intended plans.

I wonder. Do you think President Obama will publicly express his support for the legal right to burn the Koran as he did for building of the Mosque?

Wisdom says both ideas should be rejected.

Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor Rally in Washington D.C. was a gift to America straight from the Throne Room.

Whether Beck is a Christian or a Mormon is irrelevant to the significance of the event. It’s not about the man; it’s about the message. God has spoken in times past through unlikely vessels. He seems to have a thing for that. Beck was a prophetic voice calling a nation back to God. He recognizes more than some, that this must be the first step to restoring our nation. We must be one nation under God first. Then we can discern His will for our nation and develop our national life and public policy within that paradigm.

That is the message we have been preaching and teaching in our theme, “America Bless God.” God has blessed America for over 200 years. We must turn it around and acknowledge His sovereignty over us if we can expect to continue to enjoy the peace and prosperity we have known.

Now it’s time for preachers to preach it from the pulpits. Don’t be out-done by a news commentator. Shame on us! Our pulpits must be “ablaze with glory” once again.

Glenn Beck talked about the “Black Robed Regiment.” This was the regiment that King George feared the most –the preachers of the colonies. The Black Robed Regiment must once again lead the way to national repentance and public acknowledgement of God’s sovereignty over America. We must look to the stone we’ve been cut, the rock from which we have been hewn, (Isaiah 51:1), and work to restore our spiritual, and moral foundation, or we will no doubt go the way of Sodom and Gomorrah –not too good!

Pray for Glenn Beck, pray for your pastor, pray for our President and all those in authority over us. Pray for our nation to turn back to God for the benefit of generations to come, that they might know the peace and prosperity that we have known. Pray to see “America Bless God!”

Obama Pours Salt in America's Wound

President Barack Obama’s recent behavior concerning the building of a mosque near the sight of the World Trade Center attack gives us further insight into the very core values of this first un-American American President.

First of all, he honored the Muslim religion by hosting a Ramadan dinner at the White House where he emphasized their legal right to build a mosque at the site of the World Trade Center attack by Islamofascists, while choosing to be silent on the “wisdom” of such a decision, thus leaving the scales tipped in favor of building the mosque. This is nothing less than pouring salt into a national wound from which we are still healing.

Mayor Bloomberg and others who favor building the mosque ostensibly to show that we are better than Islamic countries, because we tolerate their religion while they outlaw ours, reveals a critical near-sighted ignorance of the religion of Islam. The world-wide Islamic community will see this, not as a statement of American tolerance, but rather as American weakness, and Islamic supremacy.

And finally, we must correct the record concerning the idea that our founders regarded all religions equally. The Judiciary Committee Report of 1854 answered the question: “What is the establishment of Religion?” Their answer:

“At the time of the adoption of the Constitution the general sentiment was that general Christianity should be encouraged but not any one sect.”

Remember Give-me-liberty-or-give-me-death Patrick Henry? He said,

“It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ; for this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom to worship here.” (Emphasis mine)

It’s clear our founders believed that the principles of general Christianity were superior to those of other world religions, and that Christian principles would allow the greatest amount of liberty, peace and prosperity possible. I think a quick survey of world cultures would affirm that belief.

So, Constitutional rights notwithstanding, we must defend and promote those American values that have produced the greatest nation in the world or we will lose it. It must begin by replacing those in leadership who do not share traditional American values, including President Obama, as I see it, the first un-American American President.

Arizona Decision

Judge Susan Bolton’s decision on the Arizona law, S.B. 1070, and the way she came to it represents another clear example of government by the rule of situational ethics instead of the rule that has provided the most consistent and stable government the world has ever known -- the rule of law.

When the Federal Government chooses to look the other way when a law is intentionally ignored by government officers, as in the case of sanctuary cities, and then chooses to challenge government officers who choose to insure that federal laws are enforced as in the case of Arizona S.B. 1070, you know something is seriously “rotten in Denmark,”--actually, in D.C.

If we are no longer subordinate to the rule of law we will necessarily be subordinate to the rule of whoever is in the position of power. This is totalitarianism, tyranny.

Every freedom-loving American and legal immigrant citizen must be sure they are registered to vote this November and they must vote to replace the present regime in Washington with men and women who believe that God, the Constitution and the rule of law represent the Supreme authority in the land, not whimsical human feelings.

The Future of America is in the Hands of the Clergy

As we were enjoying a festive Independence Day weekend one thought kept replaying in my mind with an ever-increasing crescendo as the weekend unfolded: The future of this Nation lies in the hands of the clergy –the Christian clergy.

Let me explain. This is the only nation in all of world history that was established “…for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian Religion...” as stated in the Mayflower Compact. We have enjoyed peace and prosperity unmatched on the face of the earth, because of the effectiveness of the Biblical principle:
“blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord.”

As long as we have publicly acknowledged God as the true Sovereign of our Nation, and have endeavored to fashion our private lives and our public institutions according to the principles set forth in the Bible we have prospered.
But there is a new spirit elbowing its way into American life, an anti-Christ spirit that is actively working to displace our Christian identity to replace it with the gods of Secular Humanism.

The Church is the only bulwark against such an evil intrusion into American life, and the Christian clergy are the leaders of His Church. I’m reminded of the words of elder statesman Edmund Burke, “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” So I ask, is that where we are in America? Have the “good men” done nothing, and as a result our children will enjoy less peace and prosperity than our parents passed on to us? Is this why the holy institution of marriage is being perverted into an abomination that will result in the abuse of the next generation? Is this why families are disintegrating as love is growing cold, why our economy is unraveling, and instead of being the lender to the world, we have become a borrower? Have we forgotten, or have we not known that the borrower is slave to the lender?

Corruption in government is now accepted as normal, and perhaps rightly so, since it is a government of the people. If the people of the nation have become corrupt –godless-then so must the government of the people be corrupt also, and where are the clergy? Where are the prophetic voices crying out, “Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.”

I confess, we have isolated ourselves in the ivory towers, we call our pastor’s study or office, while the world outside is going to hell in a hand basket. But we don ‘t want to get too political for fear of becoming defiled. Can you imagine Jesus saying to His disciples, “We’re not going into the Valley of the Gaderenes, because I don’t want to get all that demon stuff all over me. I need to stay clean?” I don't think so. The very fact that politics is dirty demands our attention all the more. Charles Finney told us “In a country like ours politics is part of our religion…God will bless or curse this country according to the course Christians take in politics.”

Will the clergy lead the army of God to redeem America, as the last best hope for a dying world, a world in need of the Gospel message we have been entrusted with?
Will the Christian clergy of this nation quit preaching dead sermons to dead congregations and begin to set their pulpits ablaze with glory preaching the righteousness of God, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and witness Christ confirming His Word with signs and wonders bringing our nation to its knees in repentance, that we might once again give the Sovereign His rightful place of authority over our land?

The clergy will have to come out from their offices, and even out from their church buildings and proclaim God’s will at the school board meeting, at the town council meeting, at the County seat, wherever the “gates of the city” are found to set the course for our citizens. It is our Biblical mandate, not to complain or criticize those who sit “at the city gates” but to “posses the gates.” It is the Christian clergy, and those that they have equipped who are to be sitting in those positions of authority, not the godless.

It defies all logic to expect ungodly people to rule in godly ways. Mind you, God isn’t calling every believer to get directly involved with politics, but he is calling some. The clergy must identify and equip those who God has called for the work of this particular ministry. It is a mission field.

We just celebrated 234 years of Independence sparked by what King George called “that Presbyterian rebellion.” The future of this great Nation “under God” is still in the hands of the Christian clergy. What kind of stewardship will we exercise? When we stand before Him who sent us, how shall we answer? There is no doubt the Church will be triumphant. The question is, “Who will march in the parade?”

The Christian Response to the Arizona Illegal Alien Law

Christians must look at everything, sacred or secular, through the prism of the Holy Bible, our rule for faith and practice. Since Jesus is Lord of all, it is all sacred. If the people of God don’t speak up on issues such as illegal immigration the godless will rule the day. All one has to do is to take a look around the world to see where that would lead us.

So then what about the Arizona law allowing law enforcement officers to ask for proof of citizenship of those who may be violating the law?

Two principles provide the framework for our response: Truth and grace, or the law and compassion. We want to be compassionate toward the alien as instructed in the Old Testament and confirmed in the New Testament. We want to provide them with every opportunity to share in the prosperity of our country, doing unto others as we would have them do unto us. Yet, we must uphold the integrity of our borders. This is also a Biblical mandate:

"Cursed is the one who moves his neighbors' landmark”. -- Deuteronomy 27:17.

Both principles must work in tandem to provide the best Christian response: We must have grace and compassion within the bounds of the law. There must be respect for the law. If we find a law disagreeable then we use the legal and political process to change it.

“Let every soul be subject to governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” –Romans 13:1

Name-calling and accusing one another of evil intent does not advance the cause of anyone except those who are driven by ungodly forces. Christians must not return evil with evil.

So in short, the Christian ought to respond with compassion within the bounds of the law.

The First Un-American American President.

President Barack Obama again demonstrated his prejudice against the country which he serves as president, when he condemned the Governor of Arizona for passing legislation that would simply enforce federal law to protect the citizens of Arizona against illegal aliens who now claim rights in a country whose laws they would disregard. They remind me of the spoiled child who throws a tantrum because his parents won’t let him stay out later than his normal curfew, because they have allowed it in the past. Now he thinks it’s a right to stay out late. President Obama is encouraging the rebellious child! It’s clear by now that this President is not an American in spirit. His values are not American values; his concerns are not for the people of the United States above the people of the world. His disregard for all things Christian, and his leanings toward secular socialism could not be more contrary to the American spirit.

Unfortunately, America made a mistake last election. If it is not corrected soon the United States of America will no longer be the great city on a hill, the land of peace, promise and prosperity we have become accustomed to, and perhaps have taken for granted. We must pray for our leaders, including our President and his family while we prepare to elect a new congress in 2010 and a new President in 2012.

Mob Rules in Washington

Again, it was demonstrated how the present administration is governing more by mob rule, than by traditional standards of American governance. The House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, commonly called the Ethics Committee, deliberately chose to violate the Defense of Marriage Act by recognizing same-sex "marriage" in newly released financial disclosure forms. In other words, the heck with what the law says; they will advance their radical agenda because they know better. They may even believe the law to be obsolete since it was passed way back in 1996. This is totally consistent with their view of governance and the Constitution which they see as a “living document” that means whatever they say it means at any given time.

Instead of upholding ethical standards they feel free to change those standards to appease the immoral left while trampling on our system of laws and justice. If the “ ethics” committee will not practice ethics where does that leave the rest of our government, and our nation?

We must insist that our legislators abide by our laws and the Constitution, and recognize only the union of a man and a woman as a legitimate marriage, as per federal law. This continuing mob rule is the reason why Americans are calling for a purge in the next election. The next generation is counting on us to keep the “mob” from destroying this great nation.

More Violence in our Future

The passage of the Obama Healthcare plan, and the reaction by those who oppose it is bringing about a greater polarization of American society. President Obama’s far left governing strategy is doing more to divide us than any president in recent history. Citizens are taking sides.

Though we can expect to see less than civil behavior on both sides, the reality is that those on the right are animated by general principles deriving from the Christian faith, like respecting others as you would have them respect you even when you may disagree. As a group they are less prone to violence. The left, for the most part and in contrast to the right, does not reflect a Christian worldview, but rather a godless secular worldview not restrained by Biblical morality. In their view the cause justifies any means necessary, including violence, as illustrated by the acts of eco-terrorists.

It was reported today that Democratic supporters were throwing eggs at Tea Party buses, and Republican legislators were receiving death threats laced with vulgar language. This does not bode well for the prospects of civil order. President Obama’s actions are bringing to a full head a cultural civil war that had been simmering for the last few decades between the godless, and those who believe we are “One Nation Under God.”

As the left feels more emboldened and justified in their cause they will react with more violence and uncivil behavior unrestrained by a Christian ethic. It only stands to reason that adopting more godless European attitudes will also bring more godless European style civil disobedience and violence.

Now What?

Let me repeat once again a basic principle of liberty first spoken by English statesman Edmund Burke:

“All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

It’s apparent that good men and women obviously did not do enough to stop this socialist assault masquerading as a National Health care bill. Can anyone, Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal really believe:

1. That 30 million more people will have health insurance coverage without an increase in cost?
2. That 30 million more people will have access to medical care with no increase in doctors, and without rationing?
3. That we will rid Medicare and Medicaid of the gross fraud and theft?
4. That the government calculations are even remotely reliable?
5. That premiums will really come down?
6. That the IRS will be able to effective administer the financial elements of this program?

It defies logic to believe any of the above will be true. Anyone who really believes any of it is obviously intoxicated with the liberal cool-aid, or grossly ignorant of the issues involved.

But good can come from evil. If Americans who believe in the principles of liberty will rise up to take back our country, we can have a revival of American nationalism, and reset the foundational principles that have produced the greatest nation on the face of the earth.

It must begin with a purging of all legislators and elected officials who will not be ruled by our Constitution, but rather insist on changing the Constitution by means other than those set forth by our founders. Every eligible Christian must be registered to vote this November and they must vote for men who fear God and who believe in the system of eternal rewards and punishment. This is what our founders believed to be a prerequisite for holding public office and it is a principle we must reaffirm.

For the sake of our children and generations to follow, get involved, get engaged, get educated and let the purge begin! Purge 2010!

The Method is Everything Mr. President.

Lately, I’ve been hearing the President and his ilk repeat the same talking points that the method wasn’t important when answering questions about the congressional chicanery going on to pass the health bill.

What is important, they said, was that the health bill was passed, by whatever means is necessary. This gives us yet one more window into the mind of the liberal ideology setting us up for totalitarian tyranny.

The liberal mindset demonstrated by Obama, Pelosi and Reid suggests that the Constitution and written rules are what they call “living documents” and are subordinate to the intellect and the will of the "enlightened ones" who now hold power because of their intellectual superiority. After all, they have evolved to a much higher degree than the primitive and ignorant white dead men who founded this nation hundreds of years ago.

The danger here is that the Constitution which provided peace, prosperity and stability like no other nation has ever known will lose its power, and we will become like the other nations of the world at best.

America is unique because of our systems our institutions, and yes, even our methods as set forth in our founding documents. We are a nation of laws, not of human whim, no matter how enlightened one may think he is. If we ever cease to be governed by laws we will be ruled by men –evil men. The method is everything, Mr. President.

INCOMPETENCE CONTINUES

President Obama’s Chief Advisor in charge of anti-terrorism continued demonstrating this administration’s total incompetence when he suggested that a 20% return to the battle field for enemy captured combatants is acceptable, comparing them to the general prison population recidivism rate. This is totally absurd! Ask our men in uniform how they feel about it.

Then President Obama appoints Rashad Hussain, to serve as Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Conference. Hussain is a clear sympathizer of America’s enemies, as expressed in his comments defending Sami Al-Arian, a convicted terrorist and former leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Now, questions are rightfully being raised as to how a terrorist sympathizer has risen to such a position within the president's administration. A quick look into Hussain reveals that he has the background of a typical Obama administration official: Ivy League education, career in public service, and an added bonus, a connection to the Soros family.In 2003, Hussain was named a Fellow to the Paul and Daisy Soros Foundation. It’s clear, this administration is either totally incompetent or anti-American. Either way, it does not bode well for our future.

State of the Union 2010

Unfortunately, the State of the Union message delivered by President Obama was a disappointment.

The President of the United States sounded like an angry juvenile blaming all his shortcomings on everyone else, and pledging to re-double his efforts to continue down the path that will be the ruination of the greatest nation on earth. He just doesn’t get it. He spent most of his time double-talking about the economy to appease both sides of the aisle. But if his track record tells us anything, it tells us that he only plans on following through with half of what he said –the half that appeases the left.

It’s clear he hasn’t learned from his mistakes handling the economy. He persists in promoting cap and trade legislation that will certainly pull the plug on an economy already in critical condition.

He doesn’t get it when it comes to national defense. As if the morale of our armed forces isn’t hurt enough by his refusal to treat terrorists as enemy combatants, now he wants to make homosexual rights in the military a cause célèbre.

What this tells me is that we must re-double our efforts, first of all, in praying for our President and all those placed in authority over us, then we must prepare to purge the government of all ungodly leadership in 2010 and 2012. The Tea Party movement is a good start, but yet we must go further to address the most fundamental issue of our national identity, that we are “One Nation Under God.” That must be our starting point.

From a foundation of faith in God and the Holy Scriptures we derive, standards, policies and laws for good government. This was the belief of our founders, and it must be the guiding philosophy of good government and politics if we are to see our nation and our culture prevail.

This is a time to learn, to teach, and to prepare for the biggest governmental purge this nation has ever seen. Yes, let the purge begin, 2010!

The Massachusetts U.S. Senate election of Republican Scott Brown gives us a preview of the 2010 elections, or shall we say, the “2010 purge.”

The American people have arisen! They will accept nothing less than a political purge of self-serving, power hungry, yellow-streaked legislators who have tried to foist “change” on a nation established to promote liberty, not Marxist, Socialist totalitarianism. We are not Europe. We are the United States of America, -One Nation Under God!

Now is the time to get educated on the issues, study up on the principles that have made this nation the world’s “last best hope,” and get ready to vote out of office anyone who won’t stand up for common-sense principles that will produce, liberty, peace and prosperity. Let the purge begin!

What's Happening in D.C.?

What we see happening in Washington D.C. is a clear example of the principle that will destroy American prosperity warned by Scots Historian Professor Alexander Tyler, circa 1787, speaking about the fall of the Athenian Republic:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse (generous gifts) from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

Senator Ben Nelson agreed to vote for the Health Care bill when he was promised a forever exemption of an expected $45 million annual cost tied to expanding Medicaid programs.

Senator Mary Landrieu promised her vote in exchange for a $300 million medicaid deal for her state.

Senator Christopher Dodd wrote a provision to the bill to get $100 million for a new health care facility in his district.

That’s just the Health care Bill. The recent passage of a $363 billion, Defense Appropriations Bill included 1,729 earmarks worth more than $4 billion like $19 million for Ted Kennedy Institute. (What in the world does that have to do with Defense, and don’t the Kennedy’s have enough money to fund their own monuments? ) In addition, there are all kinds of social programs never requested by the Department of Defense.

The idea that the federal treasury is just one big pot of money for everyone to dip into to get what they can is an idea that will destroy our system and result in an eventual totalitarian takeover, the loss of liberty and ultimate bondage.

"The average age of the world's greatest civilization has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through this sequence. From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance, from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back into bondage."

I would say we're somewhere between apathy and dependence, and if the new health care plan becomes reality, we will be pushed one step further toward dependence before slipping ultimately into bondage.

What’s the answer? Our federal legislators must understand that their mission is not to get all they can for their constituents to insure their re-election, but to represent their constituents’ interests as they seek the good for the nation.
They must be motivated not by special interests but by the common good.
But it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks, so it is more reasonable to believe that the only real solution is to throw the bums out, as the saying goes.

However we must be clear in redefining the job description of legislators on every level of government. Our founders taught us that our representatives must rule in the fear of God, doing unto others only as they would have them do unto them. In other words, we need statesmen, not politicians.

We need a transfusion of legislators on every level. Let’s start in 2010. Get ready to vote out the present stock of self-centered politicians and replace them with whoever will run against them. Then let’s stay engaged to insure that we become, once again, “One Nation Under God” enjoying the peace and prosperity that comes with His blessing.

LESSONS FROM TIGER

Again, I found myself wanting to reach through the radio to strangle another commentator who was pontificating about the need to have a prenuptial agreement before marriage, citing the Tiger Woods incident as proof that you need to protect your own assets against predatory wives.

How far we have fallen when we think that the greatest transgression is marrying without a prenuptial agreement. What message are we sending to our young people? Are we saying that marriage won’t last so cover yourself for sure? Are we saying that you’ve got to look out for “number one?” Are we saying that marriage is no more than a business relationship? Well, apparently, these are precisely the messages we are sending when we forget that marriage is a sacred institution ordained by God to fulfill his purposes in the earth.

The problem is not the absence of a prenuptial contract, which is in fact, a pre-determined divorce- agreement. If marriage is reduced to a business contract –and it very well can be in this government “of the people”- then we will pass on to the next generation more social chaos and dysfunction than we have now! If you think the children of this generation are without vision or purpose, wait till the next!

We must not continue down this path of cultural narcissism where everyone just cares about themselves. But then again, it would be illogical to expect a culture without God to consider anything holy. So it must be up to the people of God, beginning with the clergy, to begin teaching the difference between the holy and the common (Leviticus 10:10). We must set the standard in our own marriages understanding that we are contagious. Others will catch what we have. They will be influenced by the way we esteem the holy institution of marriage. Let us be sure they are influenced in the right direction.

As we pray for Tiger Woods and his family, let us also be resolved to esteem even more highly the holy institution of marriage, beginning with our own, and impacting others around us, for His glory!

LESSONS FROM FDR ON PEARL HARBOR

President Roosevelt’s response to Pearl Harbor included these words:

"No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might, will win through to absolute victory...

We will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us."

With confidence in our armed forces - with the unbounding determination of our people - we will gain the inevitable triumph - so help us God."

Where is that fighting spirit today, and most importantly, the appeal to that God that has shed His grace on this nation?

It is God alone who raises up nations, and puts nations down. We need leadership that will be resolute in our mission, and surrendered to His sovereignty.

New York Stands for Traditional Marriage

The Marriage & Family Savers Institute commends the members of the New York State Senate who voted yesterday to defeat the Same-Sex Marriage bill by a vote of 38 to 24. It’s encouraging to see that there is still a modicum of sanity and common sense in our State Legislature.

Only one brave senator spoke on the floor to defend traditional marriage, a Pentecostal Minister, named Ruben Diaz. All the others who spoke on the floor spoke passionately about human interest stories and personal experiences, but conspicuously absent was any intelligent debate on the issue. Even those who attempted to quote our founding fathers, either misquoted them or quoted them out of context. One senator even attributed to Moses a teaching given by Jesus!

Though we are relieved that the institution of marriage is preserved for another season, it was disconcerting to observe the level of ignorance demonstrated in New York’s “Upper” house. It becomes apparent why New York was rated the most dysfunctional state government. This underscores the need to be actively involved in the political process, by concerned citizens, and the need to elect intelligent officials who understand the principles involved in preserving this “One Nation Under God.”

The Way Forward?

As we prepare to hear President Obama’s speech on the way forward in Afghanistan, let me put forward what I believe it is that we need to hear:

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

For those who may not remember, these were the words of another Democratic President, John F. Kennedy, in his Inaugural Address on January 20, 1961.

Anything short of this is unacceptable, and not in accordance with the American spirit. And if these words, or a similar message is spoken, then it will be up to the American people to insure the performance of it.

This is no world for wimps. We need strong leadership.

UN-AMERICAN?

The recent decision by the Attorney General to try the 911 terrorists in our civilian court system is one more display of gross incompetence demonstrated by the current administration.

This couldn’t be more plainly demonstrated than Eric Holder’s testimony in front of the Senate. When asked if he knew of any case in our history when prisoners captured on foreign soil were ever tried in our criminal court system, his answer was, “I don’t know, I’ll have to look into that.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Here you have the Attorney General of the United States making a legal decision with no idea of the historical context of the issue. Any novice law student could tell you that’s the first place you go when considering the legality of an issue. That is, of course, if you have any regard or respect for the system that has produced the greatest nation on the face of the earth.

The reality is that this current administration has shown nothing but contempt for our systems and our institutions. Why do you think their theme is “change!”

If Americanism means identification with our history, our traditions, our principles and institutions, then it becomes quite apparent that this administration is quite frankly, very un-American.

Their vision is to see a fundamentally changed society where the perceived injustices of the past will be made right. They want reparations for the disadvantaged, and they will decide who will be classified as such. For example, the poor prisoners of Guantanamo who have been so deprived of their liberty for so many years. We must give them justice and let the world see that we care. This is naïve, and ignorant of world history and human nature.

We must restore leadership that is dedicated to preserving the principles that are unique to our American heritage, or we will surely see change, but it won’t be for the better.

Let It Begin in New York's 23rd C.D.

Let The Conservative Revolution begin in New York’s 23rd Congressional District.

For the last 50 years American culture has been steadily and incrementally drifting to the left without significant challenge because no one believed –except for a few prophetic voices on the fringes- that we could really lose our liberty.

Now the liberal establishment has overreached their ability to keep the silent majority silent. The radical socialist agenda being advanced by the present administration has awakened the American working class. It has been provoked to action as evidenced by the Tea Party movement, town hall attendance, and a resurgence of Conservatism. In fact, it’s time to see the beginning of a Conservative revolution, and there is no better place to let it begin than in New York’s 23rd Congressional District race where both the Republican and Democrat candidates are liberals.

Only the Conservative candidate holds to Biblical values on the abortion, traditional marriage and on other issues that are fundamental to American values.

People of faith have a real opportunity to send a clear message to the establishment political parties that we will not compromise Biblical values for political expediency. We must stand for life, for traditional marriage and smaller government.

Forget about winning the mushy middle. We must move the middle to the right. After all, it’s not a political decision; it’s a Biblical mandate:

“The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.” (Ecclesiastes 10:2 NIV)

Let this congressional race be the shot heard around the world signaling the return of our “One Nation Under God.” It’s not time to be apologetic for our strong Christian roots. It’s time to say it loud. Be sure to call all your friends and relatives in the upstate New York area covered by the 23rd district and tell them what’s at stake, and encourage them to get to the polls. It’s not just about their district. It’s about the future of a nation, a new revolution to restore liberty and the primacy of our Constitution. It’s about the beginning of a new revolution. Let it begin here, in New York, in the 23rd.

Time to Pray and Work

This is a time for serious prayer for our nation.

The President of the United States is demonstrating, almost daily, his incompetence for the job he has acquired. He is clearly in over his head, or as he put it when speaking of the abortion issue, “above his pay grade.”

The massive stimulus plan didn’t work, and is only serving to create a government- dependent society. (Could that have been his goal in the first place?)

His Foreign policy acumen demonstrated in such events like the Copenhagen debacle has turned us into the laughing stock of the Islamofascist world, and caused great anxiety among the leaders of civility. When the French prime minister accuses our president of being an appeaser you know we’ve got a problem.

Freedom loving people of the world see our wishy-washyness in Afghanistan and realize they can no longer count on the U.S. to, as JFK put it,

“ … pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

Obama’s naiveté, or just plain ignorance, concerning the Iranians may cause great harm and suffering to the people of Israel and others in the region. Other men in his position have risen to the occasion because their core beliefs were rooted in traditional American values. But Obama’s core beliefs are about change, a change we are already witnessing. Unfortunately, this change will bring great misery and pain to America, unless the people of God rise up and say, “No more!” Let it begin in November by throwing out every member of Congress, Republican or Democrat, who is not clearly aligned with core conservative principles. Never mind moving to the center. We need to move the center to the right. That was precisely the strategy the left used –they moved the center to the left. What was considered preposterous ten years ago is now normal. We must reverse the trend.

In November, we must demand from our candidates clear positions on three core principles:

First, a renewed commitment to our national motto: “In God We Trust” and an allegiance to all that that would suggest. That must be our starting point. Then we must recommit to a strong national defense, and third, we must begin the work of dismantling the federal monster government consuming our liberties, and begin diffusing the job of governing back to the states and local governments.

November must mark a turning point or our children may grow up in a country much “changed” from the nation we know and love. We must begin praying and working now.

FIRED UP? READY TO GO?

During President Obama’s speech to a union audience on Labor Day, he put great emphasis on an experience he had early in his campaign where a lady just kept saying “Fired up; ready to go!” at one of his campaign stops. He ended his speech with that chant as the audience joined him.

This illustrates clearly how Obama appeals to the emotions of people who have little or no knowledge of the principles that impact national prosperity. Unfortunately, the American populous has been “dumbed down” over the years. Today an average American is more likely to be an authority on American idol contestants, or major league baseball statistics than they would be on the issues affecting our liberties and prosperity.

The recent activities at local town hall meetings are the result of citizens no longer taking for granted the idea that their congressional representatives will act in their best interest preserving traditional American values. Now citizens are studying the issues themselves. They are looking into the guiding philosophies of government being expressed by their representatives, and where they see those philosophies working against liberty they are raising objections, and rightly so.

The liberal left has overplayed its hand. They act as though they know what’s best for the masses, and they truly believe they are justified in going against the wishes of the people they were hired to represent, because they know better. They believe their role is to be more that of a parent than a representative.

Unfortunately, President Obama enjoys a cult-like following of people who wouldn’t dare think about questioning his policies. They have been dumbed down. Those who follow Obama must be either educated committed socialists or uneducated “groupies.” It must be one or the other.

Whether America continues to enjoy the peace and prosperity that we have inherited from our forbears or we enter into a new age of deprivation and servitude will be determined by “we the people.” If citizens will study the issues in light of the principles that have produced the greatest nation on the face of the earth we may yet redeem our culture for the next generation. If, on the other hand, we remain complacent and allow the socialist ideologues to rule a dumbed down electorate we will be, at best, like other nations of the world, thus forfeiting our exceptionalism, and at worst, we may see an unimaginable tragedy passed on to the next generation.

This is a time for courageous leaders to rise up and teach America about American principles and values rooted in Biblical principles. We must necessarily be as President Reagan told us either “one nation under God or we will be one nation gone under.”

This is the time for the clergy to rise up and even “get political.” Government is a stewardship for which we will be held accountable. We dare not face God with the excuse that “we didn’t want to get political” or “our deacon board would be upset if I talked about politics.”

“Rise up, O Men of God” and preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ first. Then teach the difference between the holy and the common, and possess the gates of the enemy, so that our children will grow up in the same land “under God” that we did.

HEALTHCARE FOR AMERICA – A BIBLICAL AND MORAL IMPERATIVE

The President recently had a telephone conference call with hundreds of leaders from the religious left to discuss the moral imperative of his healthcare reform proposal. So it’s only appropriate that we also look at this question, not from a politically biased point-of-view, but from a Biblical point-of-view.

The President was quick to use Biblical language like being our brother’s keeper, and referring to those with differing opinions as “bearing false witness” in his pitch to mobilize religious groups to take on his cause. (Whatever happened to separation of church and state here?) But nevertheless, let’s take a look at this issue without the political spin.

Jesus’ teachings called for “healing the sick,” caring for the “least of these,” caring for widows and orphans, and generally, caring for any disadvantaged persons who need help. This is the Biblical imperative. But there is a fundamental truth that cannot be overlooked without missing the whole point of Christ’s message: These instructions were addressed to free people, not to governing bodies. Jesus didn’t say, “Be faithful in your payment of taxes to Caesar so that Caesar can care for the sick.” He always addressed the people, because it was the responsibility of individuals to act out of genuine care and concern for others, not the responsibility of an impersonal government body.

The reason why we lead the world in healthcare is because our hospitals and healthcare institutions were founded, from the formation of our republic, by individuals and associations of free people –those who had willing hearts- who took Christ’s mandate personally to “minister” to the less fortunate. The minute a compulsory element is introduced into the equation the door opens for corruption and waste, and the very people we intend to help are, in the end, hurt by a corrupt and wasteful healthcare system. This is not theory. Just look around the world to the nations that are attempting this very thing.

Both right and left agree that healing the sick is a Biblical and moral imperative. We disagree, however, on the best way to administer the care. The left believes it should happen through a compulsory government controlled program, while the right believes it should be left to the private sector where individuals and free associations of individuals can come together to provide the care needed. In reality, the deficiencies of our present system reflect not a deficiency of government, but rather a deficiency in the community of faith, and to that end, I believe the government is justified in providing a safety net, but that safety net should be kept to a minimum, because of the waste and corruption inherent in a godless secular system.

The question is often asked, “What would Jesus do?”

I believe Jesus would encourage the private sector plan of administration because Jesus was always concerned mostly with the heart and motive of a people rather than their deeds. He would not be in support of a system that encourages people to pay taxes just to assuage their guilty consciences for not caring for their neighbor. He wants us to care for our neighbor from the heart.

We see this demonstrated even in our churches where individuals would rather contribute to missionary causes halfway around the world than go, personally, to a neighbor across the street who may be in need. Man looks upon the outward things, but God looks upon the heart.

So in the final analysis of examining this question, we see that it is the legitimate role of government to protect the people from unscrupulous business practices by insurance companies, but it is the role of free people, and free enterprise to care for one another. We cannot delegate this mandate that Christ has given to us. The responsibility is ours, not Caesar’s.

Brad Pitt, Pop Culture and America's Future

Brad Pitt recently announced on T.V. that he would consider running for office on the platform of “Gay Marriage, No Religion and Legalizing Marijuana.” The reason why I believe his comments even warrant a response is because this mindset is representative of many in contemporary pop culture today, a mindset based in ignorance of American history and ignorance of logic. Yet, if this world view becomes more prevalent it will undermine the very underpinnings of the foundation of a peaceful and prosperous society. America will change –not for the better.

When asked by Bill Maher about his issues with religion Brad Pitt said this,

"You know, I grew up in a religious family, in a religious community and it just doesn't make sense to me. It just doesn't work for me in the long run," Pitt said. "I never wanted to stop anyone else's religion and their beliefs until I started seeing it defining policy.... Like gay marriage. You have a group of people telling other people how to live their lives, and you can't do that. (Italics mine). In fact, I'm talking like there are actually Christians watching your show..."

Isn’t he telling Christians how to live their lives by that very statement, dictating what we can or cannot do? What he really means is that Christians must remain silent and allow the irreligious people to set public policy. His statement defies logic. You cannot tell someone they can’t tell someone what to do, without in that very statement telling them what to do. This shows ignorance of the basic principle of logic that truth must be consistent with itself.

His ignorance –and the ignorance in pop culture – of our American history is revealed by his apparent surprise that our religious views are influencing our public policy. Public policy has always, and in every country, is always a reflection of a religious world view. George Washington, the father of our country told us that it is “impossible to govern without God and the Bible.” And founding father of our country and our legal system James Wilson taught us that civil law must always be consistent with divine law.

My concern is that our young people are getting their information from uneducated or mis-educated personalities producing ignorant masses ready to follow any charismatic personality into bondage until we become like the other less exceptional nations of the world. Bill Bennett called it the “dumbing down of America.”

Can you imagine someone like Brad Pitt running for office and winning? I can. Didn’t Al Franken, a comedian get in? If this trend continues, it won’t be long until our national anthem is replaced with a new one that is already being played at major public events: “Imagine.” Did you ever read the words written by the Beatles?

If you don’t see anything wrong with the words to this song as a national anthem, than you have already been brainwashed –or shall I say, “brain polluted” by an ideology that will radically change American culture for the worse. I’m reminded of President Reagan’s warning,

“If we ever cease to be one nation under God, we will be one nation gone under.”

It is up to the educated people of God to speak truth to power as well as to our neighbors, so that our children will know the same liberty, peace and prosperity our parents passed on to us. The clergy must lead the way, and the people of God must be as the Sons of Issachar who understand the times and know what Israel –or America- must do.

H.R. 3200: Camel's Nose in the Tent

After looking at the text of H.R. 3200, the House of Representative’s Health Care Bill, it becomes quite apparent that this is nothing more -and nothing less- than the proverbial camel getting his nose in the tent; the camel being nationalized, single payer, government run and controlled health care. When the President says, “If you like your present plan, you can keep it.” He is being technically correct, but deceptive in intent. Sure, you can keep it for awhile, but the conditions of keeping your private plan over time are so restrictive that sooner or later everyone will be absorbed into the government “option,” until the camel is fully in the tent. Eventually it will be all camel and no tent!

We Are Not Stupid...or Are We?

The total miscalculation of the “Cash for Clunkers” program is just one more glaring piece of evidence of the total incompetence of the present administration concerning our economy. Logic prevents us from putting any faith in the administration’s promises concerning national healthcare. What logic and recent history does tell us is that:
· The cost will be incalculably more than any numbers they publish.
· The administrative boondoggle will render any program totally ineffective.
· Free enterprise, as we know it, will become a thing of the past.

The only thing this present administration is sure about is concentrating power in Washington D.C.

Woodrow Wilson warned us that,

“The history of liberty is the history of the limitations of power, not the increase of it. When we resist, therefore, the concentration of power, we resist the powers of death, for the concentration of power always precedes the destruction of human liberties.”

We dare not be counted among the uneducated or “mis”-educated concerning the preservation of our liberties. This August recess is the time for “we the people” to be heard by our congressional representatives who are attempting to advance the concentration of power using a manufactured crisis to pull the wool over the eyes of the American public. We are not stupid! Let your voice be heard.

Do it all. There is no earthly cause greater than fighting for our liberties. The next generation is counting on us.

CALLED TO FALL JULY 5TH

It’s quite telling that it was reported today that President Obama may attend the funeral of pop idol Michael Jackson while he refused to participate in last May’s National Day of Prayer observance. This tells me he thinks more highly of Michael Jackson than he does of God! This is just one more indication that we must pray for leadership that is equal to the challenges of our time. Each day it becomes more obvious that Barak Obama is -to use a phrase he used as a candidate- in above his pay grade.

President Obama is systematically destroying our economy in his quest to bring the Marxist-Socialist system he learned from his twenty-year mentor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. We’ve learned we cannot judge him by his speech. What he says has no bearing on what he does, because his words have one purpose - to gain favor from his audience in the moment. Truth is relative, and just like his view of the “living” constitution, all is based in situational ethics. In other words, right is whatever will advance his agenda, and consolidate his power.

If he is not purposely lying to the public, he is guilty of gross incompetence. It must be one or the other. He said if he didn’t pass the massive $787 billion stimulus plan, (President Bush should never have started this trend in the first place.) that unemployment would rise to unacceptable numbers. Well, we did pass his stimulus plan, and unemployment still rose to those same levels. So what did we get for all the money we spent? More government control of American life. This was either a purposeful ruse or Obama is totally incompetent. It must be one or the other.

While he still tries to sell the illusion that 95% of Americans will see a tax break on one hand, on the other , he is about to sign the largest tax increase in America’s history for 100% of Americans with his new “Cap and Tax” bill. He has certainly proven himself to be a master at political slight-of-hand.

On the foreign policy front, the very thing he campaigned about –regaining world respect- is the very thing we are quickly losing. Just ask Ahmadinejad of Iran, or Kim Jong Il of North Korea. While the President is naively trying to play nice, our enemies are planning our demise. Soon President Obama will be singing “Give Peace a Chance,” while our enemies are lobbing missiles and lopping heads.

We are at a time when we must turn back to God, or our children will suffer for our complacency. Democrats may be leading this downward plunge, but godless Republicans do no better. It’s time for Democrats, Republicans, Independents and others to turn back to God, then plan on “throwing the bums out” and replacing them with men and women who fear God, who understand the times and who know what America must do. It must begin in the Church. There is no other answer but that answer that is found in the book that helped birth this nation -the Bible. We must turn to God.

SUBSIDIZING OUR OWN DEMISE

Not only is the present administration set to free 17 Chinese Jihadists on American soil, and let the American taxpayer support them via our welfare system, but now, all they have to do is claim to have been “tortured” and they can apply for almost 9 million dollars in federal grant money that the Department of Human Services has made available, through the Office of Refugee Resettlement. [i] This is absolutely nuts!

Not only will these Jihadists enjoy a life in America with more “blessings” than they’ve ever known, but now we will support them, and educate them so they can fine-tune their Jihadist training to bring down our system of liberty under God, to set up their system of Sharia law: bondage under Allah.

Looking at this most objectively one would have to ask, and seriously ponder, where does the insanity really lie? We’re financing our own demise. God help us.

IT'S NOT A CIVIL RIGHTS ISSUE

Governor Paterson recently called for the redefinition of marriage to include homosexual and lesbian couples claiming this to be a civil rights issue.

The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. must be rolling in his grave!
Mr. Paterson, himself an African-American, should have a better understanding of what constitutes a civil rights issue. Sadly, he denigrates his own heritage by associating the civil rights struggle of the African-Americans with the current trend to legitimize an immoral lifestyle. Governor Paterson insults the African-American community, and the memory of The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by placing the gay rights movement on the same level as the civil rights movement of the 60s.

Civil rights movements are characterized by the defense of an oppressed minority, a people who demonstrate disadvantage in three areas: economically, politically and socially.

In every area the homosexual community enjoys not only equality, but superiority. They earn more, they have greater political clout, and they are, in fact, the only protected social class in America today.

They are not an oppressed ethnic minority, and it is an offense to legitimate minorities to place a group characterized by deviant behavior in the same class.

Homosexuality is not an immutable characteristic of one’s identity such as race, or as defining of one’s identity such as religion. There are no “ex” African-Americans, but there are thousands of “ex” homosexuals who have changed, and have chosen to develop healthy heterosexual relationships.

If you want to properly include gays and lesbians in a class it would have to be in a class made up of people who are addicted to destructive behaviors, such as drug addicts, or alcoholics. Just like these addictive lifestyles, homosexuality can be nearly impossible to change without divine help, but as the evidence clearly indicates, change does happen. To this end we must always demonstrate love and compassion toward those who are bound by homosexuality.

Albert J. Williams-Meyers, a professor of Black Studies at SUNY New Paltz, knows civil rights. He had this to say,

"In terms of the civil rights movement of the '60s and '70s, there isn't much parallel there at all. People from the African continent were brought to America as slaves because of their skin color. Such factors don't figure into the discrimination that affects gays and lesbians.”

The Rev. Sylvester McClearn of Newburgh, NY was part of the black civil rights era. He said,

"They are not deprived of anything. They are rich people. They are middle class. They are all kinds of people coming from all walks of life, not just poor people. They are a special interest group that is fighting for what they want."

This is not a righteous fight for “marriage equality” as the gay community claims. They have equality already. They have as much a right to marriage as anyone --marriage being the union of a male and a female unrelated by blood. They don’t have the right to redefine marriage to suit their deviant lifestyle, and in doing so, making marriage more common, thus devaluing the institution itself.

This is not a civil rights issue, and it must not be so framed. It’s about legitimizing an immoral lifestyle, and changing the institution that has served as the foundation of civilization. It must not be changed, or our posterity will reap the unintended consequences of our immorality.

The “Father of Our Country,” George Washington, in his 1789 inaugural speech, reminded us that,

“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.”

We must demonstrate moral leadership, or we will continue to see a decline in the quality of life in America. We must continually work for the expansion of civil rights, but we must never encourage, by our public policy, civil wrongs.

Polarization, Not Decline

This week’s article in Newsweek, “The End of Christian America” claims that Christianity is on the decline in America. What the article really uncovered is that those who identify as Christians, but who have never lived for Christ –“pseudo” Christians- are now more willing to identify as Agnostics or Atheists. The mushy middle is disappearing, as the Bible teaches us would happen. (Revelation 12:11, 12).

On the other hand, every day of the week two new mega churches are opening their doors (Churches with more than 2,000 in attendance, according to Churchgrowthtoday.com.) So it becomes clear that what is happening is not a decline in Christianity –real Christianity- but rather a polarization in America.

Yes, there are two Americas, not as defined by John Edwards, during his presidential bid, of the “haves” and “have-nots,” but two Americas defined by a fundamental worldview that either acknowledges God and the legitimacy of the Bible, or it does not, or put another way, those who believe in “One Nation Under God,” and those who do not.

It’s been said that God has no grandchildren. Americans who have grown as traditional or cultural Christians, are being compelled to decide for themselves who they will acknowledge as the only true God: the God of the Bible, or the god of their own creation. This polarization will continue, as the godless crowd gains the support of government and major institutions, like the media and public education.

Sadly, the reality is that as we move away from our identity as “One Nation Under God,” we will find ourselves to be many nations under many gods. This will mean an accelerating decline in American life. We can look forward to more violence, less prosperity, and an overall continuing degeneration of our culture. The only answer is a spiritual renewal that will call us back to the faith of our Founders: a faith reflected by our greatest leaders, like President Lincoln who told us that

“It is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependency upon the overruling power of God…”[1]

Since it is illogical to expect ungodly institutions to teach the truth of our godly traditions and history, it is up to the Church to proclaim the truth, even when it brings division. It is time to see a decline of the mushy middle. Let the polarization continue while we pray for revival.

Obama Seeks To Replace The Church

I thought it interesting on this day, March 28, 114 years ago, the American Salvation Army was organized, and now in 2009 on this day, the new U.S. President is moving forward with his plan to replace the “Armies of Compassion” with the army of government. Obama’s plan to eliminate deductions for charitable giving is nothing more than an attempt to replace voluntary charitable organizations with big government. Where liberty thrives helping the poor is a product of compassion and care from those who are more fortunate. When the government takes over helping the poor is the justification for the existence of a wasteful, self-serving government bureaucracy.

The Church must rise up now to oppose this action, not simply because the Church stands to lose, but because this is another power grab to establish an authoritarian socialist government that must necessarily work to silence the Gospel, and will continue to do so little by little until our motto “In God We Trust” is replaced by “In Government We Trust.”

This is precisely the plan and the agenda of the spirit driving the present administration. The clergy must rise up as they have in times past to resist the forces of evil. It’s time for the prophet to prophesy to the king. We must teach our people the principles of liberty under God, and fulfill our duty to our country as stewards of the gift of liberty God has entrusted to us. God forbid that we remain “complacent in Zion.”

Above His Pay Grade?

It appears that Barak Obama is moving full speed ahead to destroy the economy. Why? Perhaps Obama wants us to be like the poor nations of the world to soothe a liberal anti-American guilt complex, or perhaps as one report claims, he knows exactly what he’s doing and is purposely throwing our economy into chaos to put Americans in a position where they will be clamoring for a savior, paving the way for government takeover of a once-free people. Then again, perhaps this is an overestimation of his abilities. He may simply be in over his head, or as he stated, above his pay grade.

Whatever the reason, Americans will have to revisit the foundational principles that have made us the greatest nation on the face of the earth if we are to recover -the principles of liberty under God. These Biblical principles have provided restraints on American capitalism, and they will need to be reaffirmed and publicly acknowledged. The word “virtue” must once again become part of the American lexicon.

Even as the Obama crowd would waste no crisis in advancing their agenda, so should the people of God see this as an opportunity to rise up, exercise leadership and see America once again enjoy God’s favor as we publicly acknowledge that we are still “One Nation Under God.” The Church must lead the way.

Tyler Speaks

It seems like every day we’re hearing of another multi-billion dollar bailout. I believe it bears repeating what was said over 200 years ago about the fall of the Athenian Republic by Scots Historian Professor Alexander Tyler, circa 1787:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse (generous gifts) from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

There it is folks. A nation of fools will we be if knowing history, we simply repeat it. It’s up to those who know the truth to take a stand if we are to see our nation spared from the consequences proven through all of history to be our fate if we continue on the current path. Tyler also taught:

"The average age of the world's greatest civilization has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through this sequence. From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance, from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back into bondage."

I'd say we're presently between the apathy and depency stage. What do you think?

At the very core of this entire issue is our collective trust in the King of the Universe. Remember, it was Ronald Reagan who taught us that,

"if we ever cease to be one nation under God, we will be a nation gone under."

That’s the bottom line. No economic plan will save us from the bondage that befalls nations that turn their backs on God. This, too, is proven by history. It is my constant prayer that our nation will turn back to the God of our Fathers. Only then will there be real “hope” for a future of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

It must begin with the people of God. Church leaders must rise up to the call or we will have to answer to our children and grandchildren for the liberty lost, because of our complacency. God has always had a people, a faithful remnant willing to sacrifice "our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor." I'm confident He still has.

LESSONS FROM NADYA

The case of Nadya Suleman, the “octomom” who had eight children by in vitro fertilization adding to the six she already had, presents a clear warning sign indicating where our culture is headed if we continue on this present course to societal chaos and dysfunction.

God has a design for his human creation: First marriage, then children raised by a mother and a father, not by a village or government welfare. Unfortunately, Nadya’s case is slowly becoming more “normal.” In many communities across our nation young girls no longer associate child-bearing with marriage. They see these as two unrelated events, with the former being more desirable than the latter.

For the sake of generations to come we must do our best to support single parent families, while we work to re-establish the prominence of the natural family. Men must step up to the plate to provide loving leadership while we all reaffirm that children are a sacred gift from God for whom parents must be willing to sacrifice. God help us if we become a nation that sacrifices the children for the parents’ happiness. God help the next generation if we don’t turn things around.

CUT THE HOLE OUT OF MY JEANS

The “stimulus” package the feds are about to execute reminds me of the story of the little boy who came home crying because he had fallen and torn a large hole on the kneecap area of his brand new jeans. He pleaded with his mother, “Please Mom, cut the hole out of my jeans so it won’t be there any more.”

Needless to say, cutting out the hole just creates a bigger hole, but alas, at least “we’ll be doing something!” For people who claim at least a minimal level of intelligence, this is a pretty dumb move.

All one has to do is to look at the facts, look at our history, and project out into the future to see that by every measure this is a loser. But then again, that presumes the ability to defer immediate gratification for a long-term good, which the present administration and Congress doesn’t seem to have the common sense to do. Goodbye prosperity; hello poverty. God help us, and God help the next generation.

COMING "CORRUSION"

Already, we’re seeing plenty of evidence of what I believe will be the norm for the next four years. Let’s call it “corrusion.” That’s the combined effect of corruption and confusion. Let me explain.

Confusion will take place when the new administration attempts to govern by situational ethics rather than by the time-tested principles codified by our founding fathers. The liberal view of our constitution held by Barak Obama sees a document interpreted by the light of current trends. As they see it, the Constitution, and all laws that derive from it, should be “liquid” enough to change as conditions change. They call it a “living” constitution. In effect, this means that the Constitution, and the entire legal system that flows from it, can mean anything depending on who is reading it. The final authority is the “reader,” not the document. Thus with many different readers you will have mass confusion. (The conservative view holds that the Constitution and the written law is the final authority.)

Corruption will then follow, because without a fixed sense of authority human nature will cause many to see their way as the right way. This will be further accelerated by our move away from being “One Nation Under God.” Everyone will be a god unto himself. More people in government will be driven by self-interests, and fewer will be there to serve others. It is a Judeo-Christian idea to live to serve others, while those gazing through a humanistic-evolutionary lens are guided by a drive for “survival of the fittest” and “self-preservation.” In this environment the “right thing” will be whatever is self-serving. The means justifies the ends. Just don’t get caught!

We will begin to resemble third world countries where the law is determined by who you know.

The confusion and corruption –the corrusion- will steal our peace and prosperity. Enemies, foreign and domestic, will take advantage of the confusion. Social, political and economic corrusion will be the norm.

That’s why the “What’s next?” question for the Christian has to be prayer –a lot of prayer! We must pray for our new president and those in power over us. We must pray for revival in our land. We must repent of our own sin of religious pride that shows up in ways that keeps us divided and ineffective.

“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chron 7:14

We’ve heard it enough, now we must do it!

The End of Liberty?

With all this talk about the federal government bailing out car manufacturers, and financial institutions, there comes a valid question we must ask: “Has capitalism failed? Is this the end of our liberties and our free market system?” First of all we must realize -and make it known- that the reason our financial institutions got into trouble is not because of the free market, but rather because of government intervention. When the federal government mandated that banks make loans to people who weren’t financially sound we injected a manipulation into the market that caused it to operate according to a model doomed to eventual failure. Then everyone just kept passing the buck until it stopped at the American taxpayer. Now if the federal government bails out the auto industry they will again inject a false set of numbers that will eventually have to be paid by the taxpayer. The federal government will become an enabler to shoddy business practices. We’ll be like the rest of the world. Our free enterprise system is the best in the world, but it can only remain so as we adhere to sound principles based on a solid Judeo-Christian ethic.

Obama Wins - Now What?

Barak Obama has won the election for President of the United States. There was a time when the nation of Israel asked for a king like all their surrounding neighbors, and God granted their wish. King Saul became their leader to their detriment. God has, once again, honored the free will of his creation. The person we have chosen is a reflection of the character of the nation. If we have elected an individual driven by selfish ambition, it is because we, as a people, are driven by selfish ambition. There will be change. That’s not the issue. My concern is that the coming change will be to our detriment, and to the detriment of our posterity.

If there is any blame to be laid, it must be directed toward the Church. It is righteousness that exalts a nation, and that standard of righteousness has been entrusted to the Church. We have failed to teach righteousness –the principles of liberty under God- and we have failed to teach those under our care that our responsibility to provide godly leadership for our nation is part of our responsibility to God. 2 Chronicles 7:14 never rang more true than it does today:

“If my people, who are called by my name”

Now it’s time to gird our loins and prepare for battle. Unless Barak Obama has a Damascus Road experience with God, (We must all be in constant prayer for his salvation and for the salvation of his family) we will have to fight for the lives of 3,000 babies every day that are being murdered in the womb by fighting Obama’s promised “Freedom of Choice Act.”

We will have to fight to protect what God has called holy, “marriage” and work to keep the spirit of Sodom from permeating our culture by the repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, as promised by Obama.

We will have to fight to protect our right to preach the Gospel in the church and on every street corner, by fighting Obama’s promised hate crimes laws and the Fairness Doctrine.

We will have to fight for the right to raise our children according to our value system without government interference by fighting Obama’s plans to indoctrinate our children using the Department of Education.

We will have to fight to preserve our liberty under God by resisting Obama’s plan to bring more of our economy and our society under government control. Woodrow Wilson taught us,

“The history of liberty is the history of the limitations of power, not the increase of it. When we resist, therefore, the concentration of power, we resist the powers of death, for the concentration of power always precedes the destruction of human liberties.”

We We will have to fight, or we will repeat the sins of the complacent church, in days past, that stood by while leaders driven by selfish ambition committed atrocities on innocent people. It’s nothing new.

My question is, “Will we?” Will we, as the prophet Nehemiah challenged the people of God,

“Remember the Lord who is great and awesome and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.” (Nehemiah 4:14)

I pray we will.

GLITTER OR GAVITAS?

The contrast between the competing tickets in the Presidential race seems to have come to a simple matter of “glitter vs. gravitas.”

I began to see this when I watched the dual interview of Obama and McCain at Saddleback Church. I remember how after Obama spoke, I thought how polished he sounded. McCain was going to have to do pretty well to compete. But when McCain came on, it was clear he was in a totally different league than Obama. Where Obama’s responses were articulate and well reasoned, McCain’s responses took on an air of authority, depth of character and confidence. The contrast was stark. Obama sounded like a decent politician whose rhetoric was nice but superficial. McCain sounded like a leader. One was glitter, the other had gravitas.

Now with McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin for VP we see a team that has a proven record of performance cleaning up government, something many have dismissed as ever being possible beyond theory.

The electorate was ready to settle for promise of change, but now there is a renewed sense of hope in the possibility of real change. Glitter or gravitas.

The choice is ours. I pray we make the right one.

How Should a Christian Vote in 2008?

Someone called me this morning and asked the question I often hear just before election seasons begin, “How should a Christian vote?”

I have answered this question in a booklet I wrote several years ago entitled “How Shall I Vote? – choosing godly leaders in an ungodly world.” But let me here summarize some of the main points, particularly as we look forward to the November 2008 elections.

These are my personal views, and not necessarily the views of any organizations I have been associated with now or in the past.

We begin with the Bible. Throughout the Scriptures we are instructed to choose leaders who

“fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain.” (Exodus 18:21)

So when we look at the candidates we want to compare their positions, voting records, and governing philosophy with the standards of the Bible. The candidate whose positions on issues most closely lines up with God’s standard of righteousness, as revealed in Scripture, should get the Christian vote.

Before we even investigate a candidate’s general philosophy of governance, we must look at two major issues facing us in 2008 that, by themselves, in my opinion, settle the issue.

First is the issue of baby killing -abortion. Proverbs 24:11 is a clear call to rescue those who are perishing, who are being led away to slaughter, with the warning that we dare not turn a blind eye by saying we didn’t know. This was the sin of the Church during the Jewish holocaust, and it will be the sin of the current-day church if we pretend it’s not happening in America to 3,000 babies each day.

A Christian must not vote for a candidate who would continue to promote baby-killing, even if it is in the name of “choice,” nor should a Christian become an accomplice to murder by voting for anyone who would promote such an agenda.

This one issue outweighs all others. It is the only issue that matters to a million babies each year. Without the right to life, there can be no other rights.

A Christian cannot vote for a candidate who supports abortion –no matter where he stands on other issues- or he will surely have the blood of these babies on his own hands.

Though Barak Obama claims that he is driven by the Scripture,

“Whatever you did not do for the least of these you did not do for me.” (Matthew 25:45),

it’s obvious he does not count a baby in the womb –or out of the womb- among “the least” when a woman’s choice is involved.

Obama’s voting record is radically pro-abortion. He even voted against a bill that would protect the life of a baby if it was accidentally born alive, claiming that the mother’s intent for an abortion should be paramount.

On this issue alone, a true Christian cannot vote for a candidate whose views are so radically pro-murder. This would be no different than cheering on King Herod while he gave the order to kill every child under two years old in his quest to murder the Christ child for his own personal reasons.

The Roman Catholic Church, a champion for the unborn in our country, has categorically denounced Obama and his Vice-Presidential candidate, Joe Biden because of his pro-murder voting record though he claims to be a Roman Catholic.

Obama and Biden would clearly continue this American holocaust, and expand it, while Senator McCain has always demonstrated a clear pro-life position in all his years in Washington.

Furthermore, McCain has declared that he would select Supreme Court Justices in the mold of Scalia, Moore and Thomas, strict constructionists, to replace more liberal retiring justices allowing the possibility of overturning the horrendous Roe v. Wade decision.

This issue, alone, disqualifies Obama and Biden from gaining the vote of the Christian.

The second major issue is the definition of marriage.

“Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept pure.” (Hebrews 13:4).

God is the one who defined marriage, “male and female, he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

Any attempt to redefine what God has called holy could only bring detrimental consequences to a nation. Billy Graham reminded us that if God allowed us to accept homosexuality as normal, he would have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah. Founding father, James Wilson, taught us that civil law must be consistent with divine law.

Therefore, any candidate who will not protect the definition and the sanctity of marriage should not get the Christian vote.

Though both presidential candidates have publicly stated that they believe marriage to be the union of a man and a woman, only John McCain has publicly supported efforts to protect that definition through constitutional amendments in California, Arizona and in other states where the issue is in question.

Barak Obama, on the other hand, has publicly denounced efforts to protect the definition of marriage calling such efforts, “divisive and discriminatory.”[1]

The definition of marriage will be fundamental to the peace and order of our society for generations to come. It is imperative that we maintain this godly order or be prepared to suffer consequences yet unimagined.

In his farewell address, the Father of our country, George Washington reminded us that

“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained”

Therefore, the Christian looking at these two major issues must disqualify Obama and Biden from receiving his or her vote.

General Philosophies of Governance

Though my father has long ago left this planet, I can still hear his voice as I was growing up saying, “The Republicans are for the rich; the Democrats are for the poor.” This same sentiment is still operative in the thinking of so many well-meaning supporters of the Democratic platform. But the truth is that both parties have the interests of the poor in mind. They just have different ideas about how to take care of the poor.

The Democrat idea is that it is the government’s responsibility to provide for the poor, while the Republican philosophy holds that liberty requires the citizenry to care for the poor with the least government intrusion as possible.

What does the Bible teach? Jesus commanded us to take care of the poor directly. He never encouraged us to pay higher tribute to Caesar so that Caesar would care for the poor. The same reason why no one would dare think of entrusting Caesar to care for the poor should warn us today about paying higher taxes to government and expecting the government to care for the poor.

Nationalized healthcare, guaranteed college tuition, and all the other promises made by the Democratic platform necessitate government control. What the government gives it must control. The more it gives the more control it must have, thus the loss of liberty.

A vote for the Democratic Party is a vote for Socialism and government control –a loss of liberty.

The Republican Party philosophy of governance places more responsibility on individuals, and voluntary associations and institutions established for the purpose of caring for the less advantaged. It adheres to the Jeffersonian idea that the government that governs least, governs best. The danger here is that the citizenry must freely choose to care for its own. Liberty necessarily implies the freedom to fail as well as the freedom to succeed.

We can go on and on illustrating the contrasts in the two distinct governing philosophies. For a further study I would suggest the booklet “How Shall I Vote?” However, I believe it sufficiently sums up the difference to say that the Democrats are for Socialism, while the Republicans are for Liberty.

IN CLOSING
In making these statements, I am exercising my own First Amendment Right to Freedom of speech much as the preachers during our founding period spoke out against the unbiblical policies of the British government, and I encourage preachers around the country to do the same.

Teaching our people how to vote is part of teaching the full Gospel. We must teach our people how to “choose leaders who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain.” (Exodus 18:21)

MASSACHUSETTS FALLS!

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick just signed a law allowing homosexual couples from other states to get "married" in Massachusetts. The Bay State now joins California in legalizing same-sex marriage" without restrictions.

The gay rights crowd is ecstatic over what they see as one more domino going down in their assault against traditional marriage in the U.S.

Kris Mineau, president of the Massachusetts Family Institute, said "With the protective barrier removed, out-of-state, same-sex couples who 'marry' here will sue to seek recognition in their home states … further eroding the people's right to define marriage," he said. This is "doing terrible harm to marriage laws across the country."

In California, gay activists are pulling out all the stops as the state prepares to vote on a marriage-protection amendment.

Will New York be next? Governor Paterson is already trying to impose same-sex marriage by executive decree. Our legal action against him is, at best, a temporary obstacle put in the path of the gay rights hordes advancing their conquest of American culture. If the Church does not rise to defend what God has called holy, our children will pay the price for our complacency as our nation -as Judge Robert Bork put it- continues its slouch toward Gomorrah. Remember the words inscribed on Thomas Jefferson’s memorial,

“I tremble when I reflect that God is just; that his justice will not sleep forever.”

It’s up to us, the people of God, to be stewards of that holy institution entrusted to His Church. It is time to do as Nehemiah told the Israelites,

“Remember the Lord who is great and awesome and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.” (Nehemiah 4:14b)

Nehemiah traveled with a trumpeter whose mission was to sound the trumpet when danger approached so the people of God could rally to the place of the threat. We are sounding the trumpet! The people of God must rally around the issue of marriage. This is no time for excuses, theological or otherwise. I’m reminded of the words of E. Stanley Jones who taught that:

"An individual gospel without a social gospel is a soul without a body, and a social gospel without an individual gospel is a body without a soul. One is a ghost and the other a corpse."

We must have both. This is a time for born again, spirit-filled believers to rise up and take a stand for the institution of marriage. This not a time to be “complacent in Zion” or our children and generations to follow will pay the price for our sins of omission when judgment falls on our nation. Billy Graham reminded us that if God lets us get away with our sins he’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah. I just don’t see that ever happening.

We’re calling on every believer to do something. Begin with prayer according to 1 Timothy 2.
Then call your legislative representatives on every level or write them a letter. Then write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Do not be silent!

Every member of the clergy must preach and teach concerning these issues and the responsibility of the Church to be the salt of the earth. Personal salvation first, but then works that reflect a faith based in the Word of God. Teach the difference between the “holy and the common.”

We stand ready to help. Just call or email us. We sound the trumpet knowing that if we will rally, our God will fight for us. The victory will be passed on to our children, and their children.

CALIFORNIA AND A NATION

Today, America takes yet another step downward toward the abyss of social chaos and national degradation with the California attempt to make holy matrimony a common social fraternity for anyone who would try to claim legitimacy in a sacred institution. Marriage was created by God to represent the fullness of His human creation in the union of a man and a woman. Since God is the One who created marriage, only He can redefine it, and He has not done so. Judges who would take it upon themselves to subvert the authority of God violate the basic tenets of their trade, as taught by founding father and originator of the American legal system James Wilson, that civil law must be consistent with divine law.

Today’s intellectual elites think it ignorance to associate national disasters with national sin. But our founding fathers thought differently:

George Mason, father of our Bill of Rights taught us:

As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world, so they must be in this. By an inevitable chain of causes and effects, Providence punishes national sins by national calamities..

They understood that national calamity, poverty and war are instruments of God’s judgment for nations that disregard His rules of social order. According to the father of our country, George Washington:

“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.”

God’s judgment on America is evidenced today in the high rate of divorce, broken families, wandering youth, record crime rates, and this is only the beginning. Our economy will continue to reverse the trend of prosperity, wars will increase, and natural disasters will accelerate in frequency and intensity. Unless we publicly reaffirm our Trust in God we will be just like the other countries of the earth that are steeped in poverty, violence and every kind of darkness -the normal state of this world. All one need do is to trace the travel of the Christianity and you will see the advancement of civilization, peace and prosperity.

We need leaders today who, rather than end their talks with the traditional “God Bless America” will begin their talks with, “We are one nation under God” and will then go on teach and model what it means to be a nation under God with liberty under God and a calling to be a light to a lost and dying world, as President Reagan’s”City on a Hill.”

Even Thomas Jefferson, one of the least religious of our founding fathers understood that:

”God who gave us life gave us liberty.”

And he challenges us with the question,

“… can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath?

Then he goes on to state the conclusion of the matter,

Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever.”

God’s justice will not sleep forever. I cannot draw a direct correlation between one national sin and its particular consequence. That connection is made in the heavenlies beyond human perception. But I can tell you there is a correlation. Our God of mercy is also a God of justice, and his justice will not sleep forever.

We must be once again, one nation under God. Regardless of one’s religion or even one’s irreligion we must collectively acknowledge that God governs in the affairs of men and of nations, and we must once again strive to live a national life in accordance with God’s plan for his human creation as much as we can know and understand it.

We need leaders who will not be afraid to declare that we are one nation under God, and it is in God that we put our trust, not in human intellect or whim. Continue to take God and the Bible out of the national life of America, and you will continue to see national calamity. One doesn’t have to believe in gravity to fall off the end of a roof. One doesn’t have to believe in the laws of God to suffer the consequences of neglecting his rules for order.

Whether you believe in God or not, His laws of order, peace and prosperity will always prevail. Better to understand them and strive to live in a way that will bring the greatest blessing possible.

There’s always hope; we can change; yes we can.

NY Governor Usurps Legislative Process

The governor of New York has just issued a directive and a video web cast directing state agencies to recognize same-sex marriages solemnized in other states, and even other countries. By this action he shows his solidarity with the radical homosexual activists who are attempting to impose their morality on New Yorkers undermining the legislative process and violating the New York State Constitution that explicitly places the power of making laws in the hands of the legislature, not judges in Monroe County, California, Massachusetts or Canada! According to the New York Times, New York will be the only state to recognize homosexual “marriages” where homosexual “marriage” is not legal. That doesn’t even make logical sense, but that is only a sample of the chaos that will be unleashed if sanity is not restored to government. Remember, that in 2006 the state’s highest court refused to recognize same-sex “marriage” and rightly said the issue should be decided by the legislature, but Governor Paterson is joining with forces that would subvert our democratic process to push their own agenda. This must not stand.

We are calling on New Yorkers to write, call, email the governor’s office, as well as the offices of their state legislators, and let them know that for the sake of the next generation we will not surrender the institution of marriage to a special interest group bent on destroying those bedrock values and institutions that our parents passed on to us.

The actions of the Governor, and even the appeals court judge who chose to disregard New York’s highest court ruling must be rejected by New Yorkers of common sense.

Impeachment for these attempts to undermine our constitution should not be out of the question.

CALIFORNIA SUPREME COURT ON GAY MARRIAGE

The four judges of California Supreme Court who decided to overrule the will of the people of California who have determined in a loud and clear voice that marriage will be only the union of a man and a woman demonstrate the new trend to usurp a government of the people by a government of the few liberals in power. Despite their twisted appeals to the California Constitution they are in fact exchanging any fixed rule of law for popular passing whims of special interest groups.

By their action they demonstrate an attempt to transform our democratic republic into an oligarchy, and this must not stand. We are calling on people of faith, as well as others of common sense to rise up and make their voices be heard. This is no time for a silent majority. The future of the next generation depends on the actions of those who know what is right, but who have been silent because, simply put, they have not been directly effected.

The British statesman Edmund Burke admonished us, “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” Make no mistake about it; this move is driven by an evil force working to wreak havoc on the next generation that will succeed unless we take a stand against it.

We are calling on every individual to write to their state and their federal legislators to express righteous indignation at the attempt to redefine the institution of marriage, the bedrock foundation of any civilized society. Write and call and encourage others to do the same.

God will not be mocked. Our founders taught us that since nations cannot be judged in the afterlife, they are judged in this life with national calamity and deprivation. The United States has been blessed above all other nations because we have been historically “One Nation Under God.” If we, now throw off God’s authority for the twisted thinking of man we will see an end to “God’s grace shed on thee.” We will see an increase of national disasters, economic loss and social chaos. God will not be mocked. We cannot expect the ungodly to stand up for Godly principles, so it falls on people of faith of every denomination to call on our leaders to return to the principles that have preserved and prospered us as a nation, or we will begin to experience life without God’s grace and blessing –life under the curse.

Some will accuse me of using fear to advance an agenda. Let it be so, for fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It is a healthy reverence for the eternal laws that God has set in order -for God’s agenda.

Some may claim these are the rants of a religious fanatic. Then one would have to label our founding fathers the same, for this was what they believed, and the principles upon which this nation –and our Constitution- were established.

These are the people each one should call and write to:

Your State Assemblyman, State Senator, The Governor, your congressman, your U.S. Senator and the President of the United States as well as the candidates running for office, and then write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper.

We must do our part and raise a mighty voice or our children will pay the price for our complacency. Let’s do it now remembering the words of our Lord,

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34)

MARRIAGE: A NATIONAL IMPERATIVE

Again, I heard some talking head on TV pontificating about how the next president has to make climate change –or as they used to call it, global warming- a national priority. So I thought, “How serious is this problem? How many people have died because of climate change? How many have become ill? How many have become impoverished? How many Americans have been denied life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness because of climate change? How many have become adversely effected in any way?” The answer? Zero!

On the other hand, each and every hour of each and every day 125 families are devastated by divorce. Every hour the lives of more than 100 children are forever changed in a way that causes them to function way below their potential. Many of them develop fears and insecurities that researchers have termed as overwhelming.

Families are plunged into poverty. Victims of divorce suffer higher rates of illness, both physical and psychological. Children of divorce, as a class, function on a lower level than those who grow up in secure families. Our prisons are filled with young men who have never known healthy loving discipline, and have therefore opted for the discipline of the correctional system.

This isn’t some theory to be debated. This is real life in America today!

Yet, as a nation we are pouring billions of dollars into managing the effects of divorce while totally neglecting the root cause.

It’s like continually bailing water from a sinking rowboat while the hole in the bottom of the boat remains open, when all we have to do is plug up the hole! If you saw someone frantically bailing water while neglecting to plug the hole you would no doubt think, “How stupid!” Well?

So what if the water is warmer. The boat will still sink unless you plug up the hole. In fact, it is already sinking, now, today, while people are debating the temperature of the water. Remember the Titanic? We’re debating the positioning of the deck chairs!

Yes, I know it’s easier to talk about some esoteric theory than it is to deal with an immediate problem that calls for action, but nevertheless, it’s time we came to our senses and started working to plug the hole in the boat, by putting our money and resources toward restoring the institution of marriage and the traditional family.

We must change our national priorities.

In 2006, according to the Department of Health and Human Services, almost 14 Billion dollars ($13,749,319,134) was sent to the states in TANF Funds (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) for social programs. My state, New York, received nearly three billion dollars ($2,848,954,440). Under that umbrella, we’re funding single parent households, domestic violence programs, housing for the homeless, education for single moms, after school daycare programs and a myriad of other programs necessitated by the breakdown of the American Family. Yet until 2007 not a red cent was put toward healthy marriage programs. We’re obsessed with bailing water instead of simply plugging up the hole. It just doesn’t make sense, unless of course you have a vested interest in bailing water. Some may even have started a water bailing company, in which case they need that hole to remain open to stay in business.

This is precisely what is happening in our social services industries, and precisely why, big government cannot be looked to for the ultimate solution. The community of faith, as well as the private sector must eventually step up to the plate, or our culture will continue to degenerate into social chaos.

In the meantime, government has a vital role to play. That’s why we are calling on legislators on every level of government to shift the focus from bailing water to plugging the hole.

In 2007 we finally got the New York State Legislature to approve $125,000 for healthy marriages. That was a first in New York State history, but still a mere drop in the bucket. Just 1% of TANF funds directed to plugging the hole would have provided $24 million dollars to save marriages -only 1%!

Currently, only two states, Utah and Oklahoma have had the sense to dedicate 1% of TANF funds to healthy marriages. They are seeing extraordinary results for their investment.

A few other states are working toward the 1% goal with the help of organizations like the Fatherhood and Marriage Leadership Initiative (www.famli.us), but most states are still wasting taxpayers’ money and human resources bailing water out of a sinking boat when it would make so much more sense to just plug the hole. Do we continue to manage the symptoms, or do we go for the cure? That’s the choice we’re looking at.

We’re calling on religious leaders who have been, so far, ineffective in combating divorce to start praying, fasting and taking action to influence public policy. It’s time for the prophet to address the king, to speak truth to power, to bring the word of the Lord to the “city gates” concerning marriage and family.

We’re also calling on corporate America to start taking responsibility for the culture in which they prosper. A recent study by Life Innovations, Inc. entitled “Marriage & Family Wellness: Corporate America’s Business?” demonstrates how healthy marriage improves the corporate bottom line. In other words, investing in healthy marriage even makes good business sense.

In summary, we must all –the church, government and corporate America- do our part to turn around a cultural mindset of acceptance of easy divorce to one of valuing, once again, the institution of marriage and working together to restore traditional marriage and the natural family. It must become a national imperative, or our posterity will pay the price for our inaction. Yes, we must address climate change, beginning with the climate in our immediate surroundings -our own marriages and families. We dare not wait any longer. We must plug the hole!

MARRIAGE REVIVAL IS THE ANSWER

When I read the news accounts of the fall of Elliot Spitzer and the infidelity of the new governor, as well as the other stories that re-surfaced about immorality in our culture like New Jersey Governor McGreevey "coming out of the closet,” and others, and the negative consequences that accompany such behavior, I realized there was one common denominator, a root cause for all this chaos: the devaluation of the institution of marriage. If these men had valued the institution of marriage, they would have been less likely to pursue such destructive lifestyles. They would have understood that,

" Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” -Hebrews 13:4

This is the very reason we, at the Marriage and Family Savers Institute, have devoted ourselves to the fight to preserve marriage. You see, there are far-reaching implications that go beyond the pursuit of our own personal happiness. I would even go so far as to say that most of the societal dysfunction in our nation is rooted in the failure of the institution of marriage. One of the very purposes of marriage is to control men! That might sound somewhat crass and simplistic to the intellectual elites of our day, but it is nevertheless true. Where the institution of marriage has been devalued and considered common, instead of revered as a holy institution, you find every kind of immorality and social disorder. Men –and women- are out of control!

One can trace the history of the decline of the institution of marriage beginning with no fault divorce laws in the early 70s and see a corresponding decline in societal order to this very day.

Rather than cursing the darkness, however, we must work together to light a candle by elevating the institution of marriage back to its rightful place in our society, beginning in our own homes. “Marriage should be honored by all –by all! Let’s start a movement by taking marriage seriously. Let’s reject easy divorce, cohabitation and the redefining of marriage by gay rights activists, and let’s hold up marriage as God intended it to be: sacred and holy. Let’s work to keep it undefiled beginning in our own marriages, and talking it up with our neighbors and friends. Let’s start a cultural revival first in our own hearts, then in our marriages, and I guarantee, we will see a national revival of order, peace and prosperity and a renewed American spirit. And our children, and theirs will thank us for it. How about it?

Obama's Words Reveal His Character

Barak Obama recently told a crowd in Pennsylvania that he didn’t want his daughters to be “punished” with a baby if they made a “mistake.”
What does this statement reveal about Obama? First of all, anyone who would equate a baby with “punishment” obviously has no sense of the intrinsic value of every human life, and sees that life only in a utilitarian sense. In other words, a baby can be a gift or a punishment according to the judgment of the adults in control. With this line of thinking, one may see an elderly relative as “punishment” for adult children who didn’t plan adequately for their parents’ old age, and may subsequently feel justified in terminating their lives. This is the same ideology that has produced some of the most terrible genocidal horrors in world history.

Secondly, teaching his daughters that they can get an abortion if they get pregnant will lead to less resistance to the temptation of pre-marital sex. After all, If we make a “mistake” it can be fixed.

In this one statement Obama reveals an evil ideology, poor parental skills and unsound judgment. We need more than that to lead the greatest nation on the face of the earth.

THE FATE OF A NATION

In November some Americans will go to the polls to choose who will steer this country for the next four, and possibly eight years. More importantly, we will choose one of two lifestyles for the next generation -Liberty or Socialism.

This is, in fact, the fundamental difference between the two political parties: Liberty and Socialism.

If either of the Democrats wins the presidency we will see the Chief Executive of the nation steering us into socialism with plans for larger government doing more for the people (therefore, the people doing less.) Hillary Clinton calls it “Shared prosperity with shared responsibility.

Listen to her own words as she gave a speech in Manchester, New Hampshire, May 29, 2007, outlining what she called her "progressive vision to aid the middle class [and] address rising income inequality." Here are her exact words, in context:

It's time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few and for the few, time to reject the idea of an "on your own" society and to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity. I prefer a "we're all in it together" society.

She rejects the idea of an “on your own” society. In other words, she rejects individual liberty that offers the freedom to succeed and necessarily implies the freedom to fail. That is simply the nature and essence of liberty. The Marxist idea of “shared responsibility for shared prosperity” was tried in the Soviet Union and it didn’t work. It requires control of the population and thus a loss of liberty. For example, the Clinton Health Plan requires the participation of everyone. By force of law you will be required to participate in a national health care plan whether you want to or not. That is not liberty; That is government control or totalitarianism.

About our free market system, the system that has produced the most prosperous society on the face of the earth, she said,

“Now, there is no greater force for economic growth than free markets, but markets work best with rules that promote our values, protect our workers and give all people a chance to succeed.”

In other words, “free” markets must be controlled by government to promote “our” values, etc. Well, free markets that are controlled are no longer free. Look at the failed Soviet Union if you want to see what a controlled economy produces. Even The Chinese are now freeing up more of their economy because they realize the fallacy of a “managed” economy. A true free market philosophy affirms the role of government as being limited to providing the atmosphere in which markets may thrive, rather than trying to manage the market to make it thrive. The very essence of a free market system is freedom from government control, even if you do call it “management.”

ABOUT BARAK OBAMA

Barak Obama certainly does represent “change.” But I’m not sure the kind of change he has in mind is one that our children will benefit from. Besides his big government solutions that would effectively put underprivileged blacks and whites on the government plantation, it is questionable whether or not he will advocate for the good of the American people, or for the good of Africa.

He has known “friendly” associations with anti-American extremists, and his wife said she was never proud of America until her husband had a chance to run for President.

Looking at all the circumstantial evidence, one could reasonably surmise that the change they want is for a different America. His presidency may, in fact, represent a coup by a radical left wing African socialist-nationalist.

This is what he believes as a member of Trinity United Church as represented on the church web site:

"An unabashedly black congregation with a non-negotiable commitment to Africa . "An African people, 'true to our native land, the mother continent, the
cradle of civilization."

If he tries to separate himself from his church’s doctrines, then he can only be categorized as a hypocrite and a liar, because the word non-negotiable leaves no doubt that this is one of the foundational tenets of this church and those who would be members must ascribe to this belief. Remember, it’s “non-negotiable.” It is uncharacteristic of a Christian Church to claim allegiance to any nation or continent, since we are members of the Kingdom of God, however this church clearly promotes the supremacy of Africa, and makes no mention of the United States. Could there be reasonable doubt as to where Obama’s allegiance may lie? I think so.

We are not advocating for or against the election of any person or political party. We are simply trying to provoke citizens to think so they can make intelligent decisions at the voting booth. It just may be that Americans want to try socialism, in which case they should vote for Clinton. They may want an African nationalist at the helm, in which case they should vote for Obama. After all, ours is a government of the people. The masses have been hoodwinked before. There is a reason why our founding fathers opted for a democratic republic instead of a pure democracy. They understood how the masses can be easily swayed by a charismatic personality, or by the enticement of self interests.

Next November’s election will be the most important in my lifetime. It will set the direction for this nation for the next generation. Will it be liberty, or socialism? The choice will be ours. I pray, we as a people, will make the right one. Get out and vote, and encourage others to fulfill their responsibility to their country as part of their responsibility to God.

Third Party a Possibility

I was glad to hear that Dr. James Dobson and other Christian leaders recently met and agreed that if the Republicans further abandon their core values and nominate a pro-abortion candidate to run for President, they would consider supporting a third party candidate who would adequately reflect the values we have always stood for, presumably, even if it means losing the 2008 election to the Democrats. The next day I heard Sean Hannity on his radio show express concern, and posing the question, “If the choice was between Hillary and Guliani who else could you vote for but Guliani?” His view, though it makes perfect political sense, demonstrates his limited frame of reference, and his inability to see that there is much more at stake than even the future of this great country. Let me share two important reasons why Christians must be prepared to support a third part candidate if the Republicans abandon core principles, such as the right to life.

First of all, many Christians like myself, cannot vote for a pro-choice candidate as a matter of conscience. If we believe that our vote is contributing to the murder of children, that would make us accomplices to murder. For me, personally, nothing can compensate for knowingly contributing to baby killing. I cannot, in good conscience, have any part in promoting a national policy of genocide toward babies.

Secondly, we realize that if Democrats win the election, it really will not be the end of the world. (That will come when the Father says it’s time.) However, things may have to get worse in this nation, if there is any chance of them ever becoming better. The Church has been complacent and unwilling to venture out into the culture to make a difference. If ungodly forces rise to power there may very well be dire times ahead, and this may compel the Church to rise up to be the Church Christ intended, or we may very well become the Atheist Socialist nation many are seeking to establish today.

We do not know what the future holds for America. We only know that America’s past has been a record of greatness, because we have been one nation under God. We also know that as historian Alexis DeTouqueville told us, “If America ever ceases to become good she will cease to become great.” My consolation is that no matter who is President, Jesus Christ will still be King of Kings, and He will still be in control.

It may very well be time for a new party, even if it means losing a term or two to more ungodly powers. Times may have to get worse, before they can be better.

Nevertheless, my encouragement to believers is to vote your conscience. Never make that -or any other decision- out of a motive of fear. Fear is the power of Satan, just as faith is the power of God. Put your faith in Him who holds governments on His shoulders, and vote in a way that standing before His throne you can, with good conscience, say “Father, I did my best,” remembering also the words of one of our founding fathers, John Quincy Adams, who reminds us that “Duty is ours; results are God’s.”
